12v is only for light wood and job cutting.

If you serious, start get the 18v collection. More power and work longer hr.

12v for hobby hobby small small jobs.. fixing little things here and there.. eg "toy-like"

if serious work/passion DIY type.. get corded.. .. corded is cheaper than 18v too..

Today powertools trend change already.

Mostly prefer cordless for able to work everywhere without the wire tangle and need looking for wall socket.

But that would be cost higher. Specially the additional battery. While deliver less power and work longer.

Old trend people prefer corded.

I prefer corded too. biggrin.gif

I take cordless over corded anytime due to safety issues

You may trip over electric cords

Or worse get electrocuted. I work a lot with metal in wet condition.

Plus, cordless tool make u look cool. Hahah

But i have to disagree 12v dont have it place. 12v complements your 18v system in some cases. My most recent example is the 12v angle grinder / cutter which has the sjze advantage

It depend how you overcome the problem.

People have been using cord tools for hundred yrs. In whatever condition.

All my cordless tools is 12v. It mean for my light work. When require more power, it just don't have the punch.

I have to fireup the cord tools.

I already have a couple of 12v batteries. Jumping into 18v group would add up more towards my tools investement as this would be more towards self projects (no ROI) hehehe. Mainly would be for crosscuts to size of the pallet boards. From early assessment the jigsaw offers more versatility than the circular saw yes?

Jigsaw can cut thicker wood and more versatile cut like profile cut or corner or round cut.

Circular saw cut faster and precise cut. It mean mostly for straight cut precise and nice cutting surface.

Each have it own usefull.

Get both if your work require all this work.

Guys, need some opinion before I proceed to buy.

I'm getting cordless impact drill, probably 12V or 18V to get my job done. Question is should I go for 400~700 bucks brushes motor or 1.5k above for brushless motor?

I heard it last longer by 10x? But I'll be using it for DIY projects only. So I won't using it frequently.

Since i use 18v, my corded tool is left untouched. Except for the demolition hammer. laugh.gif

I tend to buy the most powerful 18v option available. They perform as good as corded, and since i work on site and not in workshop, its an added advantage to be cordless

Everyone has their own preferences i guess. Mr ptiority js to get the work done safely in the shortest time permissible

Mostly I work indoor. And metal work.

So using cordless tools for metal work can be sleepy and age to get it done. biggrin.gif

Just use a cord tools and finish it up fast.
