Hello there Everybody! I created this additional space is to share my personal experience on severe Glaucoma which I have been suffering since 5 years ago. I was diagnosed as having Glaucoma in 2012 at THONEH (Tun Hussein Onn National Eye Hospital) Petaling Jaya, Selangor by DR. Kamala which later transferred my file to DR. Linda. Both my eyes was at a point of bursting at pressures of 27 and 28. I lost a significant amount of my eye nerves on my right (about 15% balance now) and left eye was slightly better. I did not realized I was suffering from Glaucoma even with the frequent 'dizziness' and 'bumping' into hanging things or accidently walking into things back then. I was one of the many people that frequented Optical shops to check my glasses or change them thinking that there were faulty or overdue. Sadly, all the optician in Malaysia and Singapore that I have visited did not even noticed my Glaucoma sickness. I can only say that they are not 'trained or equipped' as a matter of fact, most optician here are just glasses salesmen. I changed many doctors along the way from Dr. Linda, Dr. Kok Howe Sen, Dr. Kamala, Dr. Fang Seng Kheong, and currently Dr. Lim Lek Thai (just left ISEC) apart from visiting Singapore ISEC and even the famed Moorfields Private Hospital UK Professor Sir Peng Khaw. The are differences in their treatments. The UK doctors always recommend a non evasive methods of treatment first until all options are tried, while the others normally will insist on eye surgery. I have been avoiding eye surgery from the start and have not done any yet till today. I am not recommending that anybody follow this but it was my choice that I wanted to try a non evasive formula to reduce pressure. Meanwhile, I also tried some non evasive traditional treatment such as electro pulse treatment from KLINIK GANGA (Indian treatment) and also Chinese Acupuncture at a practitioner in Jalan Gasing PJ. My last check up was about some 4 months ago and the pressure was still high at 17 but the deterioration of my nerves is some what stable. I think the most effective method of keeping the pressure low is within our own body and mind. We must try to practice lots of YOGA, Meditations and importantly some breathing methods to bring in more oxygen into our system which I hope can reduce the pressure.

Getting Started

|
Some yoga maneuvers can increase the iop thereby exacerbating the condition. Also, are you on any eye-drops for your glaucoma?

Hi Guys. As promised I will write above my visit to SMJC Subang Jaya DR. LEE MING YUEH. I was there a couple of days ago after making an appointment since my last posting. I took along all of my previous reports and scans for her to read and comment. She sounds professional and very attentive which is a good trait for a doctor. But I am there not for this but to find a solution to my glaucoma problem. My eye pressure was recorded 19 for both sides which is above the normal of 17 which could be due to my week long stress and sleepless night. I was also indulging in some sake drinking dinners a couple of days ago. She recommended that I undergo some surgeries staring from cataract then followed up with Trabeculectomy as a way of keeping my vision till I die of old age. She also mentioned that without this surgery the chances of me going blind is very high and likely in a couple of years. As mentioned in my earlier posting, I will avoid surgery till I exhaust all none evasive methods because I felt that surgery will not be an answer and long-term solution. Most people undergone surgery will return and redo other types of surgery to maintained their pressure. She also change the combination of my eye drops from 3 x Cosopt, 2 x Alphagan and 1 x Ganfort to 3 x Azopt, 3 x Alphagan and 1 x Ganfort. The reason being that Cosopt and Ganfort both are Betablocker based drops and prolonged usage will be very harmful such as stroke, kidneys and liver failure and Erectal Dyfunctional (ED). Just for your information, all the eye drops available here are not preservative free and steroid based as such will be harmful no matter what. ED are early signs and I must admit I do see some similar pattern in my health too. So my next visit is due in September, meanwhile I suggest that we all avoid stress, alcoholic drinks. Keep the exercise going in the morning and evenings as this will really bring down the pressures.
BTW...her consultation charges for 20 minutes excluding medication is RM200.00 + RM40 other equipment usage charges....no scan OCT or visual field done.
