DCA more useful for ETF stocks like SPY, VGK, QQQ, etc. rather than an individual company - averaging down may go down all the way Enron/WorldCom style tongue.gif

during recession, does MYR appreciate / depreciate against USD??

which currency appreciates during recession? Is it Swiss Franc?
*
heavily dependent on WHICH country's recession or which country hit kaka more.
eg.
1997-1998 Asian Currency Crisis - omg.. MYR, THB went to hell (ie. fell) against UK's pound sterling & USD
VS
2008-2009 Credit crunch and even until early 2014 - MYR gained on USD. great time to be exchanging MYR for USD and investing in US markets

Everyone and their dawg says US 2020 but... usually when everyone expects something, it doesnt happen.
Also, 2020 = US Presidential Election year.
Wish i had crystal balls XD - i usually buy on lelong, and hold on for dear life laugh.gif

for core S&P500, I'd like to wait but, what if there's no recession in the next 2 years?

for the high dividend ETF, I'd like to buy because it can sustain during the recession, if it comes.
I guess the liquidity is not as good as the one in NYSE?

I'm searching for other ETFs other than S&P500. Would like to diversify outside US, that's why looking at Nikkei225 or HangSengIndex or SSE composite.

er.. SPY is S&P500 ETF leh, NOT "dividend aristocrats"

NOBL on the other hand is the ETF for dividend aristocrats https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/Nobl?ltr=1
What are dividend aristocrats? companies that have been paying out:
1. yearly INCREASING dividends
2. for at least 25 years
3. fail even once to increase or pay out.. out U go from the list

some of the companies in that category are:
KO
3M
MCD
XOM
CVX
O
