Privatised because bankrupt or?
You need to find a buyer (difficult to find). You may be able to sell back to the substantial shareholder.

eh, can hold onto shares when companies are taken private?

so when MAS was acquired by Khazanah, can choose not to sell the shares? but then how much is the share price?

Not sure about MAS but usually when privatised usually minority shareholders may be forced to let go their shares at the agreed price.
So, if you hold the shares and it was delisted, they will credit you the agreed price x no. of shares you hold into your bank account just as if it was a dividend.
But, you don't own the shares anymore.

As for MAS, the agreed price was RM0.27. Source: https://www.nst.com.my/news/2015/09/mas-last-trading-dec-12

so basically, forced to let go. Don't really have a choice right?

that's why I don't understand how the other guy still holds some shares of a privatised company.

It will depend on the type of delisting. If it's an acquisition and privatisation, there is usually a mandatory acquisition. However, if the delisting say because of say PN17 then there is no force acquisition and the investor ends up with unlisted shares (which are usually of no value).

I think you can refuse to sell but then you have more problem because shares of private company is harder to sell.
I'm not sure if you are entitled to future dividends but technically should have.

On the other hand, if you hold shares of troubled companies, it will show up in your Bursa statement as DELISTED forever.

I think you can ask Bursa for the shareholding certificate like this and you can frame it in your room (as a lesson) biggrin.gif

No value? Shouldn't they enjoy the same rights as the new shareholders? For example, receiving dividends etc?

can these delisted companies be re-listed on the stock exchange?

When companies delist, got 2 purpose:
1) Company very profitable for the price or undervalued to majority shareholder/shareholder wants to take control (especially family owned business)
2) Bankrupt

The 2 companies above is bankrupt/not doing well.
IIRC, Kenmark got hit with a scandal.

That statement is one of my family member's.
He said he was hoping the stock can turnaround. He has a lot of money to throw, so..
Many people like to gamble rclxms.gif He didn't get anything anymore after they went delisted.
Similar to those holding Utusan shares.

Sure they enjoy the same right but the directors are just going help themselves to Company profit by giving out high director remuneration and neglect minority shareholders since they are not regulated much anymore.

REITs is mostly retail, offices or hotels. With this crisis looming around, REITs revenue will have an impact for at least 6 - 12 months. Think again.
