Pemangku presiden Umno, Mohamad Hasan mahu bekas perdana menteri Najib Razak melawat bandar Sendayan, sebagai sebahagian daripada kempen pilihan raya kecil DUN Rantau.

Mohamad berkata, atas bantuan Najib bahawa Sendayan dibangunkan, selepas 1MDB membeli tanah berdekatan daripada kerajaan Negeri Sembilan untuk membina pangkalan tentera udara yang baru.

Jika tidak ada bantuan daripada kerajaan persekutuan sebelum ini, khususnya dari Najib, pembangunan Sendayan tidak akan dapat dijalankan seperti apa yang kita lihat sekarang - iaitu dengan (Putrajaya) membantu membeli (tanah-tanah di Sendayan) melalui 1MDB,” katanya.

1MDB membeli tanah di Sendayan untuk membina pangkalan tentera udara baru bagi menggantikan pangkalan di Sungai Besi, yang kemudiannya dibangunkan sebagai Bandar Malaysia oleh firma pelaburan negara itu.

When I went back to Seremban previously, I noticed that this is quite a community already, as in quite a lot of cars going to and fro. Is it as highly occupied as it seems?

This one I memang know. TUDM actually has acquired land in Sendayan many years ago. Lots of people got compensated with way higher than MV. Think this was back in 2011 time? I need to recheck on this. But yeah not sure when they are completing this.
As a matter of fact, the accessibility to/fro Seremban 2 and North South Expressway is amazing. I was driving around that area and it is quite populated with more houses being built.

As I mentioned earlier, S2 was never a planned city in the beginning. Before my dad bought a house in 2003, S2 was nothing but a land with roads that go up down up down. In the early 2000s, IJM started developing this land but the sales was just terrible. But instead of halting the development altogether, they kept on building at a much slower pace (starting from the houses opposite of Aeon Seremban 2), moving onto shophouses (not sure what it is named but it was the location of the now closed-down Siang Malam mamak) and then Aeon (it was Jusco at that time) came in in 2003 and I remembered the building started in 2003 and completed somewhere mid 2004. I visited Jusco at that time and it was still having tenants moving in around August 2004 - Popular was one of the first to open in Jusco.

Just for the Jusco mall itself (previously S2 only catch was the golf club, with S2 marketed as a "premium" location), it has propelled the area and IJM started to develop at a much accelerated pace. But it took about 2 decades for S2 to reach this stage, 1 decade to have govt agencies to move to S2 and among other stores and shops.
