hi, im building a computer.

i used the extreme power supply calculator to calculate the total wattage used for the rig.

I used 100% cpu load. (is this achievable as the recommended load on that site is 90%) ?

it suggested a 4++ watt power supplies. so I decided to use a 500-550w for future upgrade if any.

So what brand of psu is best value for money.? is EVGA PSU available in Malaysia?

btw there's 4 grade of 80 plus psu. is it sufficient to get the lowest 80 plus psu (below 80 plus bronze grade)

Don't bother with online psu calculators. They frequently overestimate requirements by alot and are quite useless. Just check reviews of gaming cards.

Eg.
An overclocked Haswell-e 8 core/16 thread cpu + 1080 was measured and the total power consumption at the wall during gaming is 358W. So a typical user using an i5/i7 will be using less power.

A good rule of the thumb is ensure you have 40-50% of headroom for average power consumption at load so 358+40-50% comes to 501W-537W. I've simplified things a little by not calculating the load on 12v rails but it should be good enough.

No it doesn't. Its a myth that decent psu's will degrade by up to 5% every year.
Your Seasonic is probably fine although if its not up the latest ATX2.3/4 spec, it won't be able to take advantage of ultra low power modes.

Some good psus that will last are Seasonics, Cooler Master V/VSM series (and better). The psu tier list looks to have been updated and is a decent reference although its still better to search for reviews for the model you are interest in.

The Segotep design looks decent but one review showed that it used nearly all Capxon caps.

Keep using until it dies. I'm still using my Seasonic X-760 after 6 years.

Got PSU tier. Tier 1 is the highest quality but most expensive.

G550M is good if you not into OC field, if possible, get a V series from Coolermaster. Avoid Masterwatt series for now as it got a mix approval and no one do any extensive test on it yet

Seasonic, Superflower are good brand can last and stable, Corsair AX or RM series also not bad but avoid VS and CX series
