Their CS not consistent .. I called and she told me it's activated automatically and as long as you have a 5G enabled phone, you will be able to use 5G. She asked me to check with Samsung if my Fold 4 is 5G activated. I said yes coz I have YES 5G on my phone.

She asked me to try to shut down and turn on my phone again ... done that but still no 5G and I am in KLCC area, which has 5G.

Did you manage to get 5G after upgrade to Xpax 40? Celcom Life App no 5G Add On for me.. I only see Internet Add on 5 GB. Not 5G add on

I had 5G on my phone from yesterday afternoon until this afternoon. Then after lunch just 4G. I restart phone, still 4G. In KLCC. Anyone lost the 5G today?

Anyone on Fold 4 can get 5G on Celcom? My Fold 4 get 5G on YES but not on Celcom. So can confirm issue is with Celcom.

Update : I just have 5G on my Fold 4. I am on e-sim Fold 4 with Celcom.

No issues with 5G on my Fold 4. Able to connect to 5G around KL area.

My APN settings is the Celcom 3G settings that comes automatically with Celcom. I didn't add or edit my APN.

I did make a report with Celcom yesterday morning on the 5G with a report number. So, not sure if that's the reason they fixed my 5G.

When you use your Malaysian Internet Quota, is it throttle or still get the normal high speed in the roaming country?

When I called CS twice, both gave me different answers and can't find anything on it in Celcom T&C website.

Celcom T&C website states after finishing the internet quota (I assume it is the 3GB they are referring), it will be throttled. But it doesn't mention about the speed when you use your Malaysian internet quota.

Celcom 5G coverage is not stable and not consistent. For example in some Klang Valley areas with 5G coverage, Celcom shows 4G LTE whereas when I switch to my YES 5G sim, I get 5G.

All 5G coverage areas for all telcos should be the same as it is from DNB.

So, when it comes to 5G coverage selling in future, no one telco can boast of better coverage since all buy 5G from DNB.

This RM20 add on is for additional 5GB data, not get 5G coverage.

Here's my feedback after using Celcom 5G since 1 Nov 2022:

I signed up for Celcom 188 Ligthning on 1 Nov 2022.
I have a Fold 4 5G Phone
I also have a YES 5G prepaid SIM card
I live and hangout in KL City area with confirmed 5G coverage

Here's my observation of Celcom's 5G:

- It is unstable and not consistent. Certain days, I can get 5G and sometime cannot although in same area. When I switch SIM to YES, I can get 5G. So, confirmed issue with Celcom.

- I suspect not all DNB 5G base stations are activated to link with Celcom. Maybe Celcom doing tests. For example, I couldn't get 5G in KLCC area but in KL Sentral, I could get 5G within the same 30 mins when I drive from KLCC to KL Sentral.

- I suspect Celcom may limit the amount of data or time per day you are on their 5G network because today evening I cannot get 5G but next morning, I can get 5G in the same location.

- Celcom may have a limit of number of devices that can connect to 5G or each 5G base station.

No use to call Celcom. Every time I call, they informed me that my plan is eligible for 5G and everything looks okay on their side.

They would just do a network reset. It's no use for me even after network reset but next morning, my 5G comes back.

It is also no use if I re-start my phone. My APN settings no change.

Currently in Thailand using Free Roaming under the Mega 188 Plan.

Getting 5G all the time, 24 hours per day, unlike 5G in Malaysia.

Conclusion : Thailand is far ahead in terms of 5G compared to Bolehand.

I ported from Maxis 188 to Celcom 188. No complaints now that Celcom have 5G and and 2TB data. I was with Maxis for 20 years.

Also because I travel a lot, Celcom offers free roaming for those on their Mega 188 plan covers 23 countries. You can use up to 100GB of your Malaysian data while roaming on 4G or 5G overseas.

This is very useful because my Astro Go will work while roaming as it routes back via Celcom Malaysian servers.

The 5G availability is not consistent. Not sure if it's due to Celcom or DNB.

For example, in last 4 days, I was at this cafe, sitting for 2 hours and I had 4 full bars of 5G.

Today, same cafe, same table, no 5G at all even after I restart my phone. Just 4G+.

Looks like Celcom switched off its 5G entirely since this morning because those areas that I frequent often in KL that normally have 5G in last 4 weeks, have no 5G today.

Recently, I have issues where I don't get 5G in the areas that I normally get 5G. If this happens more than 24 hours, I will call Celcom to do a network reset on their side and then the 5G will come back in 1 to 2 hours. I did this twice in last 3 weeks.
