I wonder, is Tesco Malaysia want to close down their Malaysia operation?

I went to Tesco Setia Alam, Shah Alam just now, I saw many area that lack of product assortment especially at their milk section. It's empty and left unpopular products that no one want to buy. doh.gif

I go other sections also same, lack of product assortment.

They complained in The Star newspaper that their sales are going down the drain, seeing the store condition, it's not a suprise their sales are low.

How about Tesco in your area guys? Is it okay or not?

Tesco at my area lagi kesian

product sorting and arrangement macam nobody care

dah la customer attitude macam sampah. simply take any stuff anf just leave them anywhere they like

tak ada basic manners especially frozen stuffs handling - dah bukak peti aiskrim simply just let them opened

bangang betul. dari top management sampai end consumer doh.gif

Tesco management is getting worst i guess. I can see the differences.

Last time there's a big liquor section, they close the section and put the liquor item at some small area.

Lack of cashier. So many counter closed. I was like wtf is this. shakehead.gif

They need to renovate back their store.
Try follow Aeon as example.

See Aeon Midvalley and Shah Alam. Looks modern and fresh. It attracts customer to buy more.

tesco ampang here stock still ok, but the only problem is the increase in prices. absolute ridiculous. once, a soy milk was sold RM2.20 without promo. now suddenly increase to RM2.70. gila. soy milk wei. better go 99mart only RM1.90.

Tesco is expanding its Asian presence with the opening of new stores in Thailand and Malaysia.

The supermarket is set to open 100 more Tesco Lotus stores in Thailand by the end of this year - including hypermarket, supermarket and convenience formats - to take its total estate to 2,000.

It will also renovate 18 stores in its existing estate, which covers 73 Thai provinces.

Tesco Lotus online sales grew at a triple-digit rate over the past year, it revealed this week, but still remained a small percentage of total sales.

“We see an improvement in consumer spending power and feel confident the Thai economy will rise this year,” said John Christie, CEO of Tesco Lotus.

Tesco is also due to open six new stores in Malaysia this year, four of which will be a smaller format.

The supermarket had initially concentrated on opening hypermarkets in Malaysia but is currently downsizing stores in its 56-strong estate to reduce the number by more than 60,000 sq m.

Online accounts for just 2% of Tesco’s sales in Malaysia, having launched in the country two years ago.

“Consumers still want the physical aspect of grocery shopping. They want to touch, see, smell and pick groceries by hand,” said Paul Ritchie, CEO of Tesco Malaysia.

Tesco entered the Thai market in 1994 and the Malaysian market in 2002.

it was in the news

- they are downsizing their square foot

- they are renovating

- they are opening new locations

- trying to get more people to shop online

the emptying of shelves you are seeing is probably due to make space for rearranging before renovation cam start.

Tesco Mutiara Damansara here. Seems as usual. Haven't visited this week though.

They're usually the cheapest around but I wouldn't buy anything other than packaged goods. Fresh stuff quality are pretty terrible.

eh bila LTAT beli tesco malaysia?

AFAIK tesco malaysia is JV between tesco UK (tesco plc) and sime darby (the 30% bumi shareholder nominee).

what i know of LTAT and tesco are that they are doing JV to open tesco minimarts inside certain army camps or something, calling it tesco pernama...

Deyy. If they restock on Thursday and Friday, of course on Saturday is still available.

I also went on Saturday morning okay, there are many stocks are not available.

I used to work in Hypermarket, on Saturday and Sunday are the most important days that they need to stock up the stocks because high volume of customer.

Last time tesco nearlee kills Giant and Mydin. Luckily this both know on how to survive. When Tesco Seremban Jaya opened, nobody goes to Giant Senawang for atleast 2 years plus. I can see the carkpark is empty there at Giant..

Now, nobody goes to tesco and people are going back to Giant. They even leased a part of their mall to Mr DIY..

I dun understand why suddenly tesco become bangang as hell...

They need to renovate back their store.
Try follow Aeon as example.

See Aeon Midvalley and Shah Alam. Looks modern and fresh. It attracts customer to buy more.

renovation need money so now they charge parking tickets which had been free since the beginning sad.gif

Tesco dulu laku sbb murah

Skrang dah mahal, i mean like real mahal
Some item just insane ridiculous price.

But be it tesco, aeon, mydin or giant, once i step into 99speedmart i will sakit hati. Coz 99 always lowest price. If already buy milk at giant, then singgah 99 to buy other stuff, see milk price sakit hati, n feel stupid

Sell items that can be easily bought at smaller marts at a higher price.

Badly managed.

Theft at more ghetto areas and that theft affects product quality.

Fruits and vegetables quality macam haram.

They might close down, but at the moment they are doing what every surviving hypermart is doing around the world, which is reducing their stock variety and focus on core items.

Tesco.......if you have been to the ones in UK, you won't even bother stepping into the ones in Msia. It's a world apart.

Upper Middle to Upper class Msians in the KL area don't shop at Tesco, AEON big, Giant or Speedmart......they shop at Village Grocer, Jaya Grocer, maybe Cold Storage, BIG and of course Jason's. The products are different, the decor is different, the experience is different......

it's unfortunate that when you see the products on the shelves in Giant......it's actually very pathetic.....if you wanna buy local stuff, go to your local wet market or kedai runcit.

Tesco at my area lagi kesian

product sorting and arrangement macam nobody care

dah la customer attitude macam sampah. simply take any stuff anf just leave them anywhere they like

tak ada basic manners especially frozen stuffs handling - dah bukak peti aiskrim simply just let them opened

bangang betul. dari top management sampai end consumer doh.gif
*
agree

many cases where the staffs, employee doesn't care, has no hygiene awareness. (though it not just tesco only but several hypermarts)

many of their storages, warehousing has rats & bugs. while they do try to eliminate, One of the reasons i always recommends people to wash can drinks, canned food even from established hypermarkets cause bugs & creepy crawlies definitely may have taken a piss dry.gif

Employee attitude isn't motivated, maybe its the management, maybe its lack of discipline

Tesco is really my fav. It's only because when our school want to offer fundraiser for cacat people, Giant/Carrefour/Mydin all ognore us despite multiple visit to them. Even the rich Jusco kena shoo out.

But we went to Tesco and they give us hamper/food and visit us. F&N also come and setup free Milo van and 100Plus. Both say to ask them again next year.

agree

many cases where the staffs, employee doesn't care, has no hygiene awareness.

It is true poor quality local staff to blame. Yesterday I noticed a Japanese supermarket at Velocity repacked expired dried fruits from factory packaging to loose packs for sale. I bought some in factory packaging 2 months back and notice expriry date was may 2017. I am sure the Japanese did not ask them to do this.
