Can you capture video? Try putting a tape, new or used one into the cam and shoot some video. If still cannot means it's common sense, CCD spoilt already. If it's not under warranty then prepare to get another camcorder.

CCD koyak ... get ready to buy another camcorder coz the cost to replace is almost equal, for Sony's case, could be more.

Have you checked the menu? Maybe there is something that you might have switched off accidently like exposure or iris control. You said there were no picture on the viewfinder or lcd when shooting but is the camera recording? Record something and playback with cables connected to your tv and see if you hear any sound from your recording. If there is sound then maybe some controls has been switched off or the worst is your camera is very very sick. Take it to Sony and ask them the cost for initial check and repairs. If it is expensive then ........ buy a new one! If you cant go there, then just call the Service Centre. Good Luck
