Hi all

Can I ask what are the ranges of the gender telecaster?
And also what's the difference with the squier ones?

My brother said he wants a telecaster but I have no idea on how to choose one.

Also where do I get best deals for the fender telecaster and how do I tell if it is authentic or not.

Thanks!

Its easier to go with budget then decide, cause there are heaps of teles at various price range from squires to vintage 50's that cost like what 20k usd

squires are MIC (if they still are) normally uses pine, poly finish , chinese hardware and stuff

likewise its better to say the specific model, like Squire CV is quite different from its very budget counterparts

Yeah it's much easier to pick if you gave a budget.

Squiers will be made in China or Indonesia,
while most Fenders are American or Mexican (only few are Chinese/Indonesian).

Getting them from Swee Lee/Bentley will guarantee you to get genuine Fenders. Beware online sellers, if you want you can post the seller info here to check for authenticity.

Bentley is no longer malaysia's Fender Distributor. good la...cos they put insane high prices knowing that they are the only distributor in Malaysia. Now Swee Lee has taken over...and their prices are at least more reasonable.

Hi,

Thanks for all the reply.
Budget will be about RM2k plus?

The problem is also with my bro being a lefty, he has learned his guitar with left handed guitars.
I have found several UK guitar stores, the prices seem reasonable and more selections.

Can you guys help me check if it is safe to purchase it from there?

Andertons are certainly trustable, although I've never shop from them. They have a huge following in Youtube.

You can also try Thomann which I shopped before and they're super reliable.

Also do you need another brother??? lol

Yes. Generally from cheap to expensive:

Squier : China made budget tele. basic

Squier Classic Vibe: higher quality China made with more vintage details

Fender Standard: Entry level Fenders. Mexican made. modern touches similar to American Standards.

Fender Classics: Higher quality, Mexican made, again with vintage details more correct to specific eras.

Fender American Standards/Pro: the American "standards". modern specs and feel, easier to play.

Fender American Vintage: American made, strife to be correct to all vintage specifics

then you go to custom shop which you can go wherever you want for a price...

Keep in mind that being pricier does not mean it's the better guitar, some people prefer vintages specs, some modern etc. The Fender standards is a pretty good place to start in my opinion.

squier classic vibe is actually suppose to re-create the early 80s japan squier...smaller neck and all...not necessarily a US vintage...

then got squier modern vintage...with those H-S-S combos etc...i recall got basswood bodies too.

previously got other entry lvl squier lines like the affinity and california...pure crap...still got some floating around in the used market and abit over-priced.

as for MIM fenders...i kinda regret not grabbing a blacktop when bentley were selling them for rm1.5k.
if only they had good prices on the road worn series..

MIA fenders i kinda like the deluxe / elite...
