Any 3D modellers or product designers here willing to share their experiences regarding their jobs, I'm a 2nd year degree student in Industrial Design and I have doubts regarding where will I take myself in the future.

3d modeller/designer is pretty wide range.
depends on which field you wants to venture into.

industrial design... what exactly you study there? product design?

Study the culture here, most of my ID friends went on to become sales agent or full fledge app developers.

Yeah it's product design and I'm not sure which area I'm about to venture into but mostly we were firstly introduced with home electronic products like televisions, smartphones, peripherals and such. Maybe I'll get into automotive design for cars but I have to expect a lot of competition on that area.

Oh, sales agent is not what I'm looking for hehe, but how did they become app developers? My ID course has no IT basics like coding and developing. Or maybe the coding skills are self-taught?

Here, we were asked to focus on research, ideas-making, technical drawings, 3D modelling and presentation of the products.

i came from doing 3D visual for architectural background.
so i am not entirely sure about the industry that you said.

any clue what company doing those 3D modeling/rendering for products u said above?

I have one of my lecturers previously working in Modenas department and also the lead lecturer here previously came from Sharp company.

i see... sound like more for inhouse 3D designer.

We are also executing the strecth ceiling type 3D very unique for the home interior. Do you know this material?

Can't say its a good or bad field. In your line(mine too), important to be innovative.
I suggest looking at IoT implementations in your product designs. Thats what I'm working on ATM

I work in videogames although mostly character art. I probably won't be as helpful as the others but I'll help as much as I can.
