just renewed my contract and changed my router from TM. They gave me Archer C1200, my wifi signal boosted tremendously compared to my old silver boxed innatech router.

But currently facing one problem. Whenever I restart or turn on the router, it takes about 3-5 mins to get internet connection (green signal). Any ideas why?
*
Try the latest firmware for the C1200 and see if it helps. Please report back so I can update my thread here. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=4269752

I think you better list out your C1200 version.

There are V1 (EU), V2 (US) and V3 (US) for C1200

If your C1200 is V1, you can find latest firmware here Archer C1200(EU)_V1_170706
http://uk.tp-link.com/download/Archer-C1200_V1.html#Firmware

No idea why TPlink MY website doesn't update with 170706 version.
Should works I guess..... hmm.gif
*
They seem to be updating their websites. If you go to tplink.com.my (without the dash), you'd be redirected to test.tp-link.com/en. From there you can see the latest firmware for the C1200v1 which seems to be the same as the one on the UK site.

diversity Does the latest firmware remove the C1200's Covfefe-Break* feature?
*Covfefe-Break: TPLink takes into account your love for coffee by allowing just enough time to make a cup when you turn on the router. Approx: 5 mins.

Hi, I got a Archer C7 and tried connecting to my Unifi account.

got the PPPOE details correct - checked numerous times.
turned on the IPTV and selected Unifi as suggested.
still i cant connect. Any help?

PS: I am on a Unifibiz account.

thank you very much in advance.
*
That should be all you need to do. Verify BTU is working and got link. Check lan cables, which port router to which port BTU. Check router logs for clues. The answer is there, just need to look in the correct place.

thanks for the replies.
correct
by BTU i assume you mean the modem? it is working and linked to TM. the old router still works and have also checked with TM.

Everything else seem to be in order. I have even factory reset the router to no avail. I googled and found the IPTV workaround and have applied it.

thus i am wondering if there are any other workaround that i need to try,

if everything else is in order, i think i can only assume that the router was DOA since it is new out of box.
*
Yes, BTU's the modem.

If the old router works and you say everything is in order then the only thing left is the new router. How did you come to this conclusion: "still i cant connect" ?

Have you checked the router logs?

QUOTE(Karenalvin @ Sep 5 2017, 04:40 PM)
There multiple areas showing that I am not connected to the internet;

1) the internet LED icon on the C7 is red (non-flashing)
2) the router set up page shows not connected
3) my computer n phone shows connected to Wifi on the C7 but no internet connection.
4) the IP did not change and is still the default 0.0.0.0

is there any specific things i should look for in the log?
*
Look for anything related to PPP or PPPoE in the logs. Can you verify that the C7 WAN port is connected to LAN1 (or the LAN port that worked for the old router) of the modem?

Can you post a screenshot of Advanced/Network/VLAN?

one final question if you would be so kind to answer. the original setting on the TM router, the MTU is set as 1492. should i follow their setting of 1492 or stick to default of 1480?
*
1492 bytes is fine. 1492 = 1500 -2-6 bytes for PPP & PPPoE overhead respectively. It’s the highest you can go. Any higher you’ll get fragmented packets.
To play it safe, 1480 is also ok for a slight, mostly unnoticeable, decrease in performance.

btw, just FYI: TM's DIR-850L defaults to 1492. Archer C1200 to 1480, not 100% sure. Mikrotik 1480.

different router need to use different MTU size?
*
Oh no, those are just the values that the router defaults to. The actual value to use depends on the ISP or network. PPPoE is 1492. If there's additional encapsulation, the value will be lower. You can use lower if you want to. It shouldn't affect things but sometimes it does. Like what happened here: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4206500

doh.gif  I mentioned that I opened up the router case and installed a 5V USB fan 2 cm above of router chipset.........still auto reboot during heavy torrent session or random reboot after several days if no torrent client is running.
Disabling SPI Firewall somehow fixed it....but this is not a solution.
*
If dying during torrents, usually means not enough RAM. What's the max connection you set in your torrent client? Try reducing that and find a sweet spot. Mine is set to 10000 but it never reaches that high.

Sorry, 10000 is for my Mikrotik router.

Normally C1200 tends to auto reboot at 500 connections.
...I don't think it is ram issue....more like badly coded firmware with buffer overflow or memory leak.
Disabling SPI Firewall does seem to fix auto reboot issue. But this isn't what I want to do. sad.gif
*
Yeah, in that case, definitely memory leak. Bad firmware.

Hi.Recently I upgrade my unifi to 100mbps.i need some advice where  my friend macbook can achieve 100mbps download speed while my mobile phone can only achieve around 50mbps download instead of 100mbps as both connected to 2.4Ghz wifi router but both device upload speed is able to achieve 50mbps.my router is tplink AC1200.need some advice from sifu here.thanks
*
What phone? It would depend on how many streams the phone has. iPhone 6s, for example, will perform about the same as the MacBook at 2.4GHz.

For normal rod antennas, the WiFi signal travels upward. It is better to put the router downstairs to have better coverage to both floors. If the router is upstairs, coverage to downstairs will be weaker.

That’s just plain misleading if not wrong. You’re saying it’s like Street Churros when it’s more a Krispy Kreme.

Bro, there’s no speed limit setting for TP-Link routers, even for Asus routers.

Alex9182
I've only used these 2 models. C5 has speed limiting, C1200 doesn't.

my previous TP-Link ADSL router also has speed limiting.

Model?

A few of the newer models like C1200 has VPN but no speed limiting. The older ones like C5 has speed limiting but no VPN.

any form of speed control need to enable QoS on Router right?
that mean any time NAT Boost is Enable for IPTV, we will not be able to use QoS Functionality, that includes Asus Router, is it correct?
*
Speed control and QoS are 2 separate things which can be dis/enabled independently.

That’s correct, no QoS when Boost is on. Generally speaking, in order for the above to work, “NAT Boost” needs to be disabled because “NAT Boost” allows traffic to bypass the CPU (to speed things up) whereas speed control and QoS requires the cpu’s attention so it can exercise some form of control.

NAT Boost is also why a cheap router can handle a 500mbps internet connection which normally requires a much more expensive router.

oh, good to know that, this mean there are router that can enable Hyppe TV (turn on NAT Boost) while setting speed limit on guest wifi?

which model can do that, pls recommend. smile.gif
*
I'm not clear on what you want to do and I'm not familiar with TP-Link but here goes.
1. HyppTV doesn't use NAT so I'm not sure why you're asking about this specifically.
2. NAT Boost affects the whole router. On will disable speed limit (and QoS). But off or on should have no effect on HyppTV traffic.

On a my router, a Mikrotik, same thing applies.
1. NAT Boost called Fasttrack here also must be off for any QoS or speed limit to work.
2. HyppTV traffic is accelerated (not for increased speed, more for less CPU usage) by another component called Fastpath. This works even when Fasttrack is off.
3. There's a 3rd way and that is to offload HyppTV traffic to the switch chip. This is the fastest, practically 0% cpu usage.

on Archer C1200, i remember turn off NAT Boost, HyppTV not working.

It shouldn't be, NAT Boost on/off should not affect HyppTV, but I don't know. Maybe C1200 owners can chime in.
