Any thought on TPLINK AC3150. How does it compares with ASUS AC68U? I find asus in on the expensive side. Tq.

I have both routers, mind you TP-Link C3150 have the same chipset as the Asus RT-AC88U.

Performance is better than the RT-AC68U for sure but it comes with less features.

It depends what is your priority.

Thanks for the input bro. Glad to know this. Also need some recommendation for my internet setup. My router is the cylindrical DLINK supplied by TM located upstairs. No problem getting 100Mbps upstairs but downstairs I opt for TP link powerline extenders AV500. Using this extender downstairs, with wifi able to get only half the speed around 50Mbps, with LAN able to get around 75Mbps.

Is it better for me to change my router located upstairs to TPLINK C3150 or change to a better powerline extender for example TP-Link TL-WPA8630P as what you've reviewed at your site? Tq.

I have the TP Link AC3150 v2 and it is performing very well with rock solid stability and much better firmware and coverage compared to my Archer C7 v2 that I use to have. It would be better for you to change routers, as changing power line extender will not make a difference to be honest. It seems that the wiring in your house is either three phase, or there is some form of interference, so it would be better to change routers and see what is the difference.

When you said better stability does it means speed as well? For my current router only able to get full speed upstairs using 5ghz connection. Downstairs, it will be different as it solely depends just on the 2.4ghz signal as there is no coverage with 5ghz. The reason I used the extender is to get better speed and coverage downstairs.

Do you think it is possible just to rely on the router only just cover the whole house? An able to get at least decent speed around 90-100Mbps. Btw my house is just normal double storey house.

Hello guys, just got my AC3150 router today. Have been trying to setup the router but it failed to connect to internet. Of course using password given by TM unifi. Any thought on this. On my first trial i did not switch of modem just setup normally on the router. Second trial i reset the router back to factory setting-->restart modem-->setup router. Still didnt work for me. I check the WAN light is switch on the router so should be any problem. Also checked connection no problem. After that i reattached my old router and the internet connection work as it should.

Have you selected the Unifi profile? It is required in order for Unifi to work.

Ok noted. Will leave IPV6 disable. Enjoying the router speed and stability. Also I noticed that some of the router features such as MU MIMO, airtime fairness and packet distribution is not enabled by default. Should I enable them? Other functions that I really like from this router is the ability to use apps to control some of the router basic settings and can also be monitored outside my house including real-time bandwidth usage. Other settings maybe I don't explore yet. Probably a bit overkill for casual users as myself.

I suggest update it to the latest firmware and you may have more features.

MU-MIMO is not useful as it requires MU-MIMO devices. Maybe you can enable Airtime Fairness as it may help a little.

Ok will do that.

That's what makes the price worthwhile. I love all the extra features that this router has, and I have updated it to the latest firmware, which has more features. Will leave you to explore for yourself  rclxms.gif

Yes it's a worthy purchase. Was wondering whether anyone using notebook cooler with this router? This thing seems to run quite hot IMHO.

My solution to the heat generated. Simple laptop cooler below the router with two fan blasting from the bottom of the router. Steel surface below the router able to disperse heat quite well. Result is significant decrease of temperature of the router. I'm happy. biggrin.gif

Just came back from holiday, my ac3150 got problem suddenly can't connect to the router through wireless and wired(sometimes connect and sometimes cant). Afraid might kena lightning strike. Last time before went to holiday just shut off extension plug connecting modem and router. Indicator lights on router and modem shows everthing still working however I'm having problem accessing router management page from browser and apps. Thinking of hard resetting the router. cry.gif

Hard reset and try again. If it still doesn't work, RMA it.
