Wah..... read until eyes pop out.... lolx...

Aponogeton will grow big and high not really suitable for tanks below 2 feet.

Java fern will grow both in and out of water. That's why its in the hardy plant category. Most LFS cultivate Java fern and its variations out of water, that's why you sometimes get it so lush and green, then when you put it into your tank, the ends of the leaves start to wilt and grow black. Not too worry, its just adapting.

For the rest of you, why don't you ask for the LFS contact number the next time you visit, at the very least you can call ahead to check if they have the fish or plants that you want.

Hehehe... damn simple. But you have Brighty K that makes the difference. I just transplanted a bushy Blyxa into my 6' nano, praying now that it grows. Dosing with half a root tab every 4 weeks.

Wah lao Goldfries promoting other forums when you STAFF here lolx.... CBT!!! CBT!!! eheheh just joking

The Genoah tank, IMHO wouldn't have enough space for 2 substrates, big enough for 2 cups of ADA and you are looking at maybe 1.5 litres of water. In this sized tank, better stick to 1 fauna species no headache. Shrimps would be the way to go, since you won't really have to buy additional food for them unless you really wanna spend RM50 on a Crystal Red shrimp (CRS) then go with Algae flakes, otherwise stick with Red Cherry Shrimps (RCS) - only RM1.20 each (on average). Plant-wise for this tank, is any plant that has petit or dwarf in parts of its name.

FYI:
When setting up a new planted tank, you can always get the people at the LFS to do it for you, pay them a bit more la.

Same with mine, too busy cari $$$ to have time to look after. Anyway I just came back from an amazing dive trip. But, my plants suffered la when I was gone, now all the Glossostigma having 'shoot for the sky' syndrome. Aghhh.. time to trim this weekend. Also gonna do a planted tank set-up for a friend this afternoon smile.gif I'll try to post photos if the tank owner takes pictures. All I know is the tank is a 1 foot cube. I'm gonna get the following for the set-up:

External canister filter, DIY co2
Gex soil for shrimps, granules size just nice.
Holland sand or pea gravel.
Ferrite root tablets for root growth.
Hardscape from my tank.
Cabomba - background stem plants and for its fast growth in any condition.
Marsilea for fore & middle ground.

My friend's eventual fauna will be guppies, harvested from his mini outdoor pond.

Happy CNY people, a little late but still within the 15-day period ma.

Anyway, good to hear still got so much queries on planted tanks!

WhitePalace: the snail question - to get or not to get.
Depending on what you want to stand out in your tank, choose the snails wisely. Also as with a normal fish tank, never over populate. A super clean tank isn't a good place for Zebra Horned Snails or commonly known as Nerite. No use watching them slither all over your tank and end up eating your plants. Its all about balance.

To counter, Malaysian trumpet or apple snails, get 1 pygmy pufferfish for snail control. ONLY 1 will do! Unless your tank is 4 feet and above or having a massive snail infestation.

I'll be posting a 'before' and 'after' photo later on in the day. Hope you guys can kasi comment a bit.
