QUOTE(ariesto @ Apr 21 2009, 10:50 PM) Hi all, i need some advice from sifoos to the below. 1) FYI, i nvr put those things/stuffs in my planted tank, as i dun have enough "M" power...1. Is power sand a must for the setup? 2. If Bacter 100, Clear Super, Tourmaline BC, Penac P&W, how long does the ADA soil able to free from fertilizing? from ACT (malaysia ADA agent) website QUOTE Power Sand contains rich organic nutrients for plant roots, and helps to make an ideal environment for bacteria activity. Its porous volcanic stones secure water circulation, and avoid the stiffing of the substrate. It also contains rich nutrients for aquatic plant roots for a long period. meaning, if you put those power sand, it will create a better enviroment for bacteria growth...2)From ACT website Bacter 100 More than 100 different kinds of bacteria are inside Bacter 100 in a dormant state. Those bacteria form microorganism layer inside the substrate. To be applied at the bottom of the substrate at initial setup, or for restraining the growth of blue-green algae, sprinkle directly on the algae. according to the statement, this product contain 100 different knd of bacterias, which improve the bacteria growth. somehow they also mentioned can used for counter the BGA, i might try this... Tourmaline BC Tourmaline BC contains fine bamboo charcoal, absorbing organic pollutant substances, and mineral of tourmaline which improves the aquarium environment. It helps to improve the substrate environment by sprinkling at initial setup. this product contain bamboo charcoal, which serve as asorbbing the pollutant substances only.. Clear Super Clear Super contains highly refined activated carbon powder mixed with several nutrients promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria. When setting the aquarium, the work of bacteria is activated by spreading Clear Super at bottom of substrate layer with Bacter 100, and it helps to stabilize the substrate environment quickly. again, contain carbon powder and several others nutrients promoting the growth of bacteria. Penac W for Aquarium Penac W helps to improve the substrate environment. Sprinkle powder of Penac W at very bottom of the substrate layer. Recommendable for advanced planted aquarium hobbyists. the W is for water, so this product is mainly to provide stable water condition inside tank Penac P for Plants Penac P improves resisting power plant naturally have, and promotes healthy growth. It can also be used for horticulture or agriculture purpose. P is for plant, which this product is to improve mostly the roots of the plants, and help it to grow more strong So, based on my understanding on the info from ACT, i can say that the 5 element main purpose is to enhance the growth of bacteria, the stable the water, create better water condition for plants, and lastly to strengthen the resistibility of plants.... When u mentioned free from fertilizing, what do you understand of fertilizing? those power sand and 5 elements will improve the things i mentioned above, yet introduction of fertilizer also need to depends on the type of plants, which some of them required high nutrient while some not... Hopefully this can help u.... Try at ur own risk |

QUOTE(rySse @ Apr 22 2009, 04:54 PM) for aquarium rite... if many years already it can just crack by itself? cause i heard of many cases that suddenly the tank just crack... some tank they din properly add the support glass to withstand the water force..that's why over some time, the strength of the silicon cannot withstand the water force... |
