QUOTE(pinchboyz @ Jun 3 2008, 10:25 AM) I'm not sure whether java fern is aquatic plant onot. What to do? Malaysia's temperature is like that ... the plant in rear is Aponogeton, no a good plant... easy to grow... and will flower, and the flower will explode and come out with flower powder in which ur whole tank will 29c? ur plant will be sad.... Night time when I turned on the air-con .. It goes to somewhere around 26c++ .. Daytime when the air-con already off.. I have to quickly shut the door so the temperature is still there.. Then switch on the ceiling fan.. It slowly raise in few hours time and then sticks on 28c but if the whether is hot, it will go max 29c.. Never reach 30c so far.. What do you think? |

QUOTE(pinchboyz @ Jun 3 2008, 02:25 PM) sry, i miss out something and i lazy to check back, how big is ur tank? That is what i am doing .. Nite - aircon + light .. Day - fan only .. with aircond is 26? then wat temp u set for ur aircond when on? 26? 27? i got 1 suggestion, put pc fan, or aquatic fan lo, if u on ur aircond, the fan will make the temp slightly 2~3 degree than ur ambient temp.... u might do this... night time, when switch on aircond, make sure ur temp reach 25~26, then turn off the fan... day time, turn on the fan.... I didn't turn too cold cause if it gets 23c~24c.. I guess it will stress the fish with 6c drop.. |

What's the different between Normal and Powder? Heard I have to use normal on bottom for the root and powder on the top layer.
I don't know the name of plants and scaping. Let me describe a bit. Its those short grass, I believe its called japanese short grass to cover all the soil. 1 inch soil enough? Then few limestones stacked closely together at the rear/side of glass so I can put 3 inches soil inside for taller plants. In between the limestone. There will be a few long driftwood reaching almost the middle top of my tank covered with greeny short grass. Am I hard to understand? Maybe its iwagumi... |

QUOTE(coldfusionpower @ Feb 20 2009, 12:22 PM) if possible ask for discount .. for rm400 i can get new 2kg tank and solenoid .. Oh okay... I get a little idea already.. normal soil is big while powder is smaller .. powder soil is needed when u want to plant small foreground plants since the powder has more smaller gab so the roots can easier stick to. if u dont use foreground plants, normal soil will suffice .. grass : japanese hair grass .. its a foreground plant .. so need powder .. the side where taller plants, dont need powder soil . iwagumi means rock arrangement . usually one or two island of rocks only are used in the whole tank .. each island use 3diffrent stone or 7 max .. other places will be covered by foreground .. usually glosso or HC. most iwagumi doesnt hv other plants type at the scape .. but a few nice big blyxa japonica located near the island would be nice ... iwagumi examples.. I won't be following the iwagumi.. I want something like that only.. Japanese hairgrass it is.. BUT my tank has triangle compartment at both left n right .. Haiz .. |

Left side is to hide the pipe from Return Pump.
Right side is the overflow compartment to sump. Planted tank got rules to follow? Can't I make rojak rule myself? I mean to scape on my own liking. |

I also don't think overflow tank will do good. I'll see if I can seal up the hole.
Then only start looking for soil. |
