Grow up, think tank tells PKR

The post of prime minister is not something to play around with, says IDEAS CEO Wan Saiful Wan Jan.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS), a private think tank, pulled no punches today, telling PKR to grow up and realise that the prime minister’s post is not something it can play around with.

IDEAS CEO Wan Saiful Wan Jan said PKR could not choose to have someone to “warm the seat” while waiting for its preferred candidate as prime minister.

“It is irresponsible to propose PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the next interim prime minister.

“Even Wan Azizah said she is not good enough for the position,” he told the media after attending an education conference here.

Wan Saiful also ticked off PKR, DAP and Amanah leaders for their act of holding up placards at the PKR national congress on Sunday to proclaim support for PKR’s de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim as the next prime minister.

Former prime minister and PPBM chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the party’s president, Muhyiddin Yassin, had not joined the leaders of the other parties in holding up placards.

PPBM, PKR, DAP and Amanah are components of the opposition coalition, Pakatan Harapan (PH).

Anwar is serving a five-year jail sentence after a conviction for sodomy. Unless he receives a royal pardon, he will be barred from contesting an election for five years, even after his release from prison.

“What if Anwar loses the election? What if Anwar cannot be the prime minister for health reasons?” Wan Saiful said.

“It is a collective decision of the coalition. You cannot play around with it.”

He agreed with Mahathir’s decision not to hold up the “Anwar for PM” placard as the PH presidential council had not made any decision regarding the prime minister’s post.

He said making Anwar the next prime minister was the agenda of only PKR.

“You cannot force the other parties to support your agenda without discussing it first,” he said.

as long as they are funded by any malaysia/US/australia/western/eastern country/any government that has won the election, they are "barisan" as far as they are concerned

to me, any party who critics the opposition, is the pro-government. This is the definition of government. The governments job is to criticise opposition, just like its the oppositions job to criticise the government.

They might as well pay you then. Easiest job in the world, to stand there and say everything is wrong like a dog in a manger.

Im baffled by some oppo fan
Fanaticism on same level as red shirt goon

Wan azizah as pm?
She isnt qualified at all
Whats her contribution other than being a wife to certain man in jail?

What has she done to kajang?
She warm his husband seat in kajang

And after this the pm seat too?

His best characteristic now is being a seat warmer

Doesnt make sense
Democracy doesn't work like this

If oppo think they desperately need anwar
Maybe they the one need to reflect on themselves

No other good politicians left in the coalition?

Maybe they really just thought it was a bad idea? Not everything need to have a hidden agenda.
