Actually for a multi floor house, something new might be simpler if you have coaxial cabling throughout. Definitely better than using extenders that create interference from hidden nodes. The layout is: your router's antenna port -> WiFi splitter -> all the cabling runs to different cable outlets in your house -> WiFi antenna on those cable outlets.
