I retry for second time just now, wana ask you whether now is successful?
I flashed using lmt firmware, 21.310.01.04.418
Wondering why the software version is still 21.306.01.00.00  rclxub.gif

Your router is one of the special batch which require another way of flashing the firmware. But you successfully updated the webUI.

It comes with IPV6 support enabled and more information displayed. smile.gif

Anyway, you already updated the webUI. I can see you have the lmt webUI now.

Hi blacktubi, in this special case, what kind of special method needed to upgrade firmware  hmm.gif

Would you want to try if it involves risk of bricking your modem?

That's how I get mine updated too.

Been googling for the whole morning, i found out that:-

When i firstly received my e5186s from taobao, although model is black tele2, but webUI is Huawei.
That is why I got this software version: 21.306.01.00.00

Only then last night i force update to lmt, webUI becomes lmt
Yet the software version is still the same, as it will forever stuck with its original vendor

Am i right? blacktubi

2 kinds of E5186 in the market. Modified and normal.
The firmware update procedure I posted previously will update the firmware+webUI for those with normal E5186. BUT, it will only update the webUI for those with modified E5186.

Normal E5186 are those that come with carrier branded UI and still able to receive web update.

For those modified E5186, we need to switch it to factory mode in order to update it. Most E5186 from Taobao are modified. And, it may brick some E5186. For most people WebUI is sufficient.

I just received my E5186s-22a, LMT branded. Bought second-hand on ebay from Latvia.
Proud to report a 50mbps speed, Melaka, Bachang.
OTA updated to latest
Software version: 21.310.01.04.418
Web UI version: 16.100.02.00.03

Playing around with a crappy antenna, I just found at household, not sure is it better though. Can someone enlighten me what's these values about, as well what is a good value low/high? Thanks.

Pretty good signal over there

Ignoring the negative, you want RSRQ figure to be as small as possible and SINR as big as possible.

With that kind of signal, you are probably within 1KM from the tower. Most likely visible as well. smile.gif

I am still skeptical on this kind of thing, doubt it can boost LTE.

It works on GSM and WCDMA for sure.

Envy at E5186 users with the band selection tools  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

What is the modem you are using?

Well, sometime no CA is better than CA unless you get really good signal for 2600Mhz as well.

Celcom coverage is so much better. 4G+ most of the place with speed exceeding 50Mbps most of the time.

Why pay extra RM300 for a cacat E5186?
1. You can't use CA.
2. You may not use phone call (since 3G may not available and voLTE will never support for local telco here.)
*
Actually at RM300 it is still a decent Cat4 LTE modem considering B310 is around that price as well.

Yup. But i prefer to get AC790s. Did you buy that last time?
1. Cacat mean the CA cannot work here.
For my opinion, if buy E5186, must get the -22. Because the feeling like buying a Ferrari with 80kmh top speed.
But it is up to you, because you decide how much value you paid.

2. Malaysia is using -22 variant, other than that, you need check the detailed spec yourself. Some of the variants, partial or all of the 2G, 3G or 4G band do not work here.
If the 2G/3G bands are not supported, mean phone call is not allowed.
I check the spec of -61, it supports the 3G bands here. So call may safe.
*
Nope, but I expect it to be faster. But it will overheat under prolonged usage.

I got one idea. Instead of buy the Huawei 4G Modem/router. Why not just buy a 4G phone as HotSpot? Right?
*
Some people do that, in fact most phones have a much more advanced LTE modem.

The problem is, phones will overheat and the wifi signal is weak compared to a physical router. Phones are simply not designed for that kind of long term usage.

Hi, anyone using B310 here can comment if the Huawei toolbox can be used on this modem?

Want to consider either B310 or B315 now... I don't mind with only one LAN port as the price cheaper a lot from Taobao. And I saw someone commented that B310 doesn't support 900Mhz, anyone can confirm on this? Think from Taobao website it mentioned B310s-22 does support 900Mhz FDD LTE.
*
All Huawei HiLink router support the tool
