378+2.32(1.88brokerage fee+0.44other charge)=380.32usd

anyone familiar with rakuten's handling of dormant trading account?
what period of inactivity will they suspend account?

1. did you convert that to USD first b4 buying?
2. Do you need to activate anything to buy etf? bcs when I tried to buy it b4 I got some error message.

1. It is up to you whether to convert or not. The only thing when you convert make sure that the RM is strong hence you will get more USD then

2. Yes you need activate foreign stock activation before you are able to buy Us stocks. Can’t tell you where is wrong unless you are able to tell us the error message?

2. Yes already activated foreign stock, already bought few stock like google b4. I forgot the error code, but if it happens again will take note of it. My account is the basic cash up front account.

1. Yes, better convert usd to us stock. Else everytime u buy need convertion fee myr->usd, not worth.


2. After activate us trading acc, No need activate anything to buy etf.

I wouldn’t convert all at one go unless you know you are getting better rates 🤦‍♀️ anyway those FX spread you save no point because by the time you buy those US stocks with better spread already fly high and you missed out on the gains 🤦‍♀️

For trading foreign stock, if stock quote price displayed is delay, does it mean our order execution will be delay too?

Order execution is based price matching during the market hours

Price delay on the quote because the price feed on the app is not in sync with market price

Last I heard is every time make a purchase of US stocks need to convert RM to USD on the spot to buy.

So even if the bid/sell pricing is delay and different from live market price, the order we placed will matched instantly if hit market price?

It was never to convert 🤦‍♀️ But when they launch it was only RM allowed to buy and then they only introduced USD back last year

Not instantly but as long as the broker is able to match to the market then your is executed

So doesn’t matter if you see the price delay the execution is more important as ispeed app is buggy as hell

Rakuten only got nominee account hence no IPO while M+ is CDS

If i buy US NYSE stock, the foreign stock wouldn't be in my name right, even if i am using M+ or IBKR that provide direct cds account ?
