Hi guys, I got a question. I know nothing about speaker, amplifier etc. I got this Edifier P2010, its a cheap speaker so the sound is not that great.
I also got old Aiwa speaker, still good.
Can I use the aiwa speaker replacing the edifier small speaker? Will it harm the edifier main unit? This post has been edited by SliparJepun: May 18 2017, 09:09 AM

You can, it won't harm, but if you can touch the sides of the Edifier subwoofer just test out the Aiwa speakers first and feel if it gets too hot or hotter than with the original smaller satellites. Chances are it won't sound good though. Those Aiwa speakers will need more power than the small satellites and you might end up with the Edifier subwoofer sounding a lot louder than the Aiwa speakers. They're only 87db sensitivity.

Yes, edifier main unit indeed feels hotter using aiwa speakers and the sound is far better than edifier small speakers. But I didn't notice the sound from edifier subwoofer louder than aiwa speakers. The heat really is a bit of concern. I guess this combination is a no go then?

If the heat isn't too hot then I guess should be ok.

If its not that hot then I'll just keep using the Aiwa speakers. I've been checking some amp from lazada / ebay / lelong etc, I just don't know which one is suitable for the Aiwa speakers.
