QUOTE(limchee @ Apr 14 2008, 01:55 AM) I'm sure you don't need a blu-ray player to watch this, just a cap ayam 100 bucks DVD player will do.Most likely just standard DVD, ripped from a blu-ray. So it will still be standard definition 480p video (4-5 MBps bitrate), only it will be slightly brighter, sharper, and richer in colours. So quality will be slightly better then normal DVDs. But the details and vividness from the real blu-day (20-40MBps) will be lost. And no way you can put the 4-20 MBps lossless audio on the DVD. But yea, the quality is definitely not Blu-Ray quality, that's why I just said better than DVD and I was HUH? since when we are so high tech and be able to have jack sparrow version of blu-ray movies? upon closer inspection and checking the price, it's too cheap to be actual blu-ray disc it's just ordinary dvds, ripped from blu-ray Added on April 14, 2008, 9:27 amjust like last time when dvd first came out, you'll see the word DVD and LD on those jack sparrow VCD's cover |

I compared Transformers with my original R1 version. Very hard to see difference. But bluray seems brighter. I noticed got some video anamolies eg. jaggies on bluray version also. |

The Jack Sparrow BD ripped is Made-In-China DVD - the quality is slightly better but no better than normal R1/R3 ori DVD (same as 480i quality). No crappy DTS or fake track BUT no features either. If you willing to pay for Jack Sparrow, might was well pay a bit more for true R1 ori (thru Amazon) since most ori are coming down in prices due to lower US dollars exchange rate.
True BD movie on real BD player yields 1080p video quality with TrueHD sound. Go check it out at your local BD store and you can see the real difference over your DVDs collection. This post has been edited by danmooncake: Apr 24 2008, 11:04 AM |

I tested a few movies downloaded from Bluerayrip and convert/burn to DVD....result worth the download...movie are clearer, brighter and sharper..better than a ori DVD version.
But the original .mkv files of course better than a converted to DVD. One thing I experiment due to the memory capacity of a DVD, to have the best pictures, one must forgo the Dolby sound, but if one must life with Dolby, the picture will be slightly inferior...but still, better than an original DVD. And also, different software used will also yield different result. Some ppl. even use 2 software to do the conversion and the burning. |
