Car: Kancil 850 Auto (2002)

Story:
Was driving my kancil back from pasar malam (around 6-ish PM). Turned on the air-cond and felt that the air wasn't as cold as it was when I drove to the pasar malam. Didn't mind (yet) cause I was thinking maybe it's time I serviced the air-cond.

Arrived home, turned off the air-cond, turn off the car and heard some noise coming from the engine bay. Popped up the hood and I believe it's the coolant that was 'boiling' from the coolant reservoir. Let it cooled off and came back to see that there is no coolant left (at all) in the reservoir.

Things I've checked:
* Radiator Fan: It's not spinning (not totally sure if it's dead as I believe it only turns on when the thermostat reaches a certain temperature)
* Coolant Reservoir: It's totally empty (can see the bottom of the reservoir lol). Used water to check whether got any leak throughout the system, there wasn't.
* Temperature (or thermostat?) meter: Needle didn't move from the 'C' mark (Usually when the engine is turned on, the needle would be around 1/3 of the meter)

boiling noise from the engine bay

Would like to hear your input, thanks notworthy.gif smile.gif

Judging from the condition of the temperature meter and fan (assuming that its working; the fan should spin when aircon is turned on - 1st top up your radiator and spare tank), i suspect its the temperature sensor that's kaput. You may also want to change the thermostat together.

Open up your radiator and make sure that coolant level is full. The concern is that since the vehicle might have overheated unknowingly, you might have accidentally cooked the gasket, warped or cracked the head. A mechanic/radiator specialist should be able to confirm this via a pressure test kit.

when coolant reservoir is empty this is indicator of bad circulation of cooling system.

this will indicate your water pump will fail too soon.

change motor fan, thermostat, and water pump all together. check for leaking.. and change to full coolant..
