QUOTE(syafiqsm @ Jun 7 2017, 11:52 PM) TS FINAL COMMENTARY rTHE PREVE & SUPRIMA S ![]() When I first embarked on this research, the intention was to answer one simple question: "What is the SAFEST and MOST AFFORDABLE car in Malaysia?". Throughout my 9-month of exploration, it was apparent from the outset that Proton cars with HPF steels will emerge as the answer to this question. But it was not just ALL Proton cars with HPF steels. It's just THAT Proton cars. Proton Preve was truly a game changer as far as car’s safety in Malaysia is concerned. Before Preve was conceived, almost all cars sold in Malaysia were nothing more than "tin milo". Malaysia had became a dumping ground by first world carmakers to dump their third world products. Granted, Japanese are not known for producing cars with strong body back then. Not many people have heard about Hot Press Forming, High Strength Steels, Ultra High Strength Steels, and Advanced High Strength Steels in those years. Then, came the Preve. Unfortunately, its entry into local car scene as a 5-Star ANCAP rated was not that spectacular. In 2012, the very year it was launched, it became a laughing stock for the public when one of the test drive cars had involved in an accident which caused the car's lower arm to break. The photo was taken by a passerby at an angle that made the immobile Preve looked "funny". It was like a runway model that falls halfway through. It had became an amusement to some. It was not until a few years later in 2014, when Amalina, a nurse from Terengganu got involved in a freak accident on LPT highway. The car's engine was ejected a few metres away. Some people were quick to conclude that there was something wrong with the Preve’s overall quality. However, they failed to note that the only thing that matter, the occupant herself suffered no injury and was able to walk like nothing had happened. It was the case like this that had opened people’s eyes to what safe car can do in a serious accident like Amalina’s. As time goes by, more and more serious accidents involving Preve started to emerge. Some of these did make it to social media and became a viral sensation. While some just went under the radar and unknown to most people. Fast forward to this day, there are so many accidents that have become a living proof of Preve's indisputable safety. Preve is a VERY SAFE CAR, so does its sibling, the Suprima. If we remove those who didn’t wear the seatbelts out of the numbers, there were ONLY TWO (2) fatalities recorded over the course of 5 YEARS! While the "SUPREME" has successfully blocked all catastrophic and life-threatening intrusions from ever reaching its occupants inside. There was NO DEATH recorded in Proton Suprima since it was launched back in 2013! You tell me what are other cars in the Malaysian market sub-100k that possess such an audacity in relentlessly protecting its occupants? Proton Preve & Suprima should be awarded a Medal of Valor for the service rendered. It's a job well done. Please continue the "activism" in encouraging Rakyat to buy safe cars. If they value their lives and the lives of the loved ones, they don't have to break the bank just to afford one. It's not hard to figure it out. It's the very car that they may see everyday on the road. The research that I have done is of course “unscientific”. The intention is to impart knowledge and instill awareness on the Rakyat, rather than to please peer-review experts. I would encourage “real researchers” in quantitative field to take up this for a further research. Write it up and make publications. It’s a very interesting topic! Today, I unequivocally declare that Proton Preve is the SAFEST and MOST AFFORDABLE car in Malaysia! while the Suprima takes the runner-up spot. This is not because the Suprima is less safe than the Preve, but because it is pricier. HIATUS I may not be able to frequent this thread all that much from now on. I have to answer a higher calling. I have been re-assigned to a new team that will be dealing with a very important project. I need to retire being a "car safety activist" in Lowyat's Kopitiam.:grin::grin::grin::grin: I would appreciate if you guys could keep the STAT COUNTER updated should a new fatality arises: STAT COUNTER: - Total Reported Number of Deaths for Each Model (as of 30th May 2017) - [1] Proton PREVE: 5 deaths (since 2012) [2] Proton SUPRIMA S: NONE (since 2013) [3] Proton IRIZ: 4 deaths (since 2014) [4] Proton PERSONA (2nd Gen): NONE (since 2016) Hail ts, tq for ur thread |
