Hello guys,
I have 2 internet subscription: Unifi (100Mbps) & TIME (100Mbps).
Both are using Dlink DIR-850L and both connection is at different place.
What I noticed:
On 2.4GHz WiFi : The connection maxed out at 50Mbps
On 5.0GHz WiFi : The connection can reach max 100Mbps
Why does this happen? Theoretically on 2.4GHz N connection it can reach max speed too.
Do you guys have this problem too?
It is expected. I have 2 internet subscription: Unifi (100Mbps) & TIME (100Mbps).

N150 or N300 is the marketing speed.
N300 too is an aggregation of N150 @ 2.4Ghx + N150 @ 5Ghz
1 Spatial stream/antenna can only support max 72Mbps @ 20 Mhz during the 2.4Ghz mode.
850L is 2 spatial streams, while it at 2.4Ghz and can only support max 144Mbps/40 Mhz or still 72Mbps/20 Mhz max if your receiver only got only 1x1 spatial stream.
But in real life, it is impossible to achieve throughput of 72Mbps per stream.
Anyway, there's exception for some ASUS product for wireless N, due to different modulation used,1 spatial stream can go more than 172Mbps and advertised as N200 per stream, they equip it with 3 stream and called it as N600 and need a special receiver too.
If you are in 100Mbps or higher internet speed in the wide area, you really need multiple wireless AC points.
