I lend you la since you staying so nearby only Just jaga it really really carefully for me. I flew all the way to see the publisher (Asiapac) directly in Singapore to buy the last set in the world. Published in 1995 for RM14 per book, it's no longer in production for a long time already & will never be produced anymore due to copyright/royalty issues.

I bought it for childhood memory sake.

The latest version of Condor Hero started off good but somehow got a bit lost midway with poor editing and flow. The fight scenes were mostly poor due to heavy slow-mo which somehow robbed the dynamism of the engagements.

The best sequence of all the fights is Huang Yaoshi with the 6 monks. The rest is mediocre to poor.

Shame about the series as it doesn't live up to the trailer which is some of the best I've seen from a Chinese TV series.

The original version is the 80's TVB version. In terms of actors, actress and storyline, it's still the best. Heck, even the theme song is the best. However, since it was made in the 80's, a lot of things looks really dated and they were not filmed in China, so most of the sceneries are terrible with outdated sets.

The Condor Heroes is the first story followed by Return of the Condor Heroes and the last story is Heaven Sword & Dragon Sabre. A lot of people mixed up the 2 Condor Heroes. The one with the giant bird is the second story and is the next generation. The Heaven Sword & Dragon Sabre is set about 100 years after the story of Condor Heroes.

TVB remade this story in the 90's and China remade this story including the latest one 3 times. The first remade by China was the one with Chou Xun and Faye Wong ex-husband. I think the second remade by China was just 2 or 3 years ago but it was heavily criticised because it amended the original storyline. That's why I think China remade it again so fast.

As for Return of the Condor Heroes, the original was the one which popularised Andy Lau in the 80's. it was again remade by TVB in the 90's starring Louis Ku. There was also another Taiwanese version staring Richie Ren which some people say is the worst version. There was even a Singaporean version. The popular first remade by China was the one starring Huang Xiaoming and Liu Yifei which a lot of lowyatians will remember. Then there was another remade again by China about 2 years ago which have a chubbier Gugu.

Actually the story with the most remake is Heaven Sword & Dragon Sabre. The original was TVB in the 70's which I think nobody remembers but remains popular in HK. There was a TVB remake in the 80's starring Tony Leong and another remake by TVB in early 2000's. There were countless remade by Taiwan in the 90's but the remake of this story seems to died down in recent years especially China version.
