Initial game play experience (30mins):
1) Loading of each game takes quite a long time
2) Shooting consistency is difficult. Having difficulties timing the shot. CPU is pretty good most of the time in scoring
3) HD rumble is terrible and can't find the option to switch it off
4) Online is not yet available
5) Lots of confusion at first with the number of tricks and keys in the joycon
6) Game is fun though

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting with Matt Karch, the CEO of Saber Interactive, to discuss today's release of NBA Playgrounds.

There has been a lot of hubbub about the game, especially in regards to the slow loading times and lack of online availability at launch on Nintendo Switch. Fortunately, Matt assured me that the online component has already been submitted to Nintendo for certification and it is his goal to have it up in just a couple of days. Also, he said the first focus for patching is the load times. Rest assured, they read message boards and care about your feedback!

There are currently no plans for monetization through player packs or new playgrounds, these will be released free of charge so I will be able to play as Steve Nash – I am a Phoenix Suns fan after all. This is a marked difference from the direction EA has taken with their line of Ultimate Team modes and they plan on following up with new modes, too. One of the modes we discussed was the ability for 2 v 2 online, as it is currently limited to just 1+AI v 1+AI.

While I did not get a timeline on when to expect these new characters, they already have several completed, it was just a matter of wanting to let every player get their moment to shine.

There was also some talk of Shaq-Fu, but I'm only going to tease about that right here.

While the Switch was not the lead platform for development, in fact it was the tail platform, they feel as if the Switch is the natural home of this type of game, so we should expect plenty of love going forward.

Just bought this yesterday as well - I suck at this game, but I've yet to use the pro controller. The controls are not as easy as NBA Jam...

After patch updates..
1) Game is much easier to play with the shoot bar. It's less frustrated as you can actually win laugh.gif
2) Game loading time improved significantly
3) Online game is addictive but waiting for online players could be a long wait sometimes

More free content. Cuz 500k sold across all platforms..

"33 new players are due to arrive by the end of the summer, along with various balance and quality of life tweaks to make the game more fun, and a new three-point contest mode for online play. Though it’s due out by the end of the summer, the content is coming to Switch at a later date"
