Seems real..

anybody wanna do the tests mentioned in that thread to see if you have burn-ins from a less than week old phone?

Found some interesting write up by a fellow xda member. His comments are as follows:

Quote: I am no expert but I once read that it's not burn in but that the screen in the black portions it's less consumed.
Let me explain.
Theoretically in AMOLEDs (OLEDs) the pixel is the led. When the pixel it's turn on it has a color, when not it's black. So like all my Nexus with AMOLED (Nexus 6 & 6p) if the navbar is always black (or most time), sooner or later you will see a bar at the bottom of your screen that it's "brighter" than the rest of the screen because it has been more time turned off than other pixels. Also the buttons in the navbar may look burned in but really they are contrasting with the intensity of the screen where the navbar pixels have been turned off. Following this theory the white buttons pixels remain turned on in a specific color wich with time get washed away because the lack of brightness (they are more "consumed").

This is just a theory that I once read and sustains that not matter what, if you have an AMOLED screen with navigation buttons you will for sure get this effect. It doesn't matter if you don't see it, it will happen. For example on the pixel c that has navigation buttons this won't happen because has an LTPS IPS LCD panel. A burn in (no powerless pixels XD) could happen but it would need hours of turn on static screen.

Hope this helps. If this it's just ridiculous I can guarantee for sure that in all my AMOLED screens I got this "burn in" .

hei guys,

i need some help..im a iphone user switch to android.

1.When you receive whatssapp or message in iphone, the display will switch on for a brief periode so you can check the notification. How to set this in S8?When the message come in,the screen is just dark.Have to switch on manually.

2.Message tone.In my iphone,i set 3 diffren tones for SMS,whatsapp & whatssapp group.
I tried setting in S8 whatsapp sound notification, but it will only come out the phone default tone.

Any help is appreciated here.

1. Try lightly double tapping ur home button when your screen is lock. Able to see the messages as iPhone then.

Well, in technical terms, OLED don't have backlight like traditional LCD. LCD uses CCFL or LED as backlight. OLED lights itself up when being subject to electricity, eliminating the need for backlight.

The 3 navigation keys definitely lights up for most part except when you're loading games or watching videos. It's definitely prone to image retention depending on how you use your phone. For some people who can spent hours daily on social medias, wouldn't be surprised if it came to them faster than others.

Not too sure about this, just quoting from xda to ease some tension and worry on the burn in effect. Should the image retention be severe theres no dount whether the s8 community would be well compensated by Samsung. Samsung can't afford another fiasco for now.

New s8+ user reporting... FYI.. the gear VR is somehow very nice and good!

I find the gear vr amusing too. Just occasionally blurry when not worn properly and the image are still a little pixalated. But for rm250, it's great 😁.

And for those vr users, we can lie down while using some apps. Tried Samsung internet so far, good for browsing YouTube etc while lying down. Can reorient screen by looking at the location and tapping the vr control.

To those that use the clear coat, do you feel that the front sp a bit "soft"? For some reason mine feels like there's a soft layer. And if I press using fingernails I can see the mark on the sp. Is it the same for u guys?
*
Yeap it's soft and delicate. Using it with great vr will leave a pressured residue on areas that are clamped by the gear vr.
However the pressured area will heal itself over time

Yes same
Oh I saw mobile legend, have u enable full screen? And turn on game performance mode?
*
Enabled full screen but seems to be the same. Cropped a little at the end. Using normal mode to play no glitches or lag. And battery is awesome
