I am a buyer, and both parties already agreed on a price and signed the letter of offer. However, now the seller wants me to use his lawyer, and it seems like he would not budge if I want to hire my own lawyer. If he does not agree and cancel the transaction, is there any law to protect me as the buyer? Seems unfair to force the buyer to hire his own lawyer.

no one will have the rights to stop your from hiring your own lawyer.

Exactly.

u both hire a lawyer, than lawyer deal to lawyer

That's what I told the agent. No one needs to do any extra work except our lawyers.

yes you should get your own lawyer to side you... Do you think the seller's lawyer sided/be fair to you if there is any dispute in the future?

That's what I told the agent as well. My family has known this lawyer for probably over 10 years and we trust this lawyer.

Sounds fishy.

As precaution:
1. When something wrong happen, the lawyer will side you (Buyer) or him (Seller)
2. Will the lawyer be fair to you (Buyer) and him (Seller)

Which is why I insisted to use my own lawyer

QUOTE(skylee18 @ May 5 2017, 04:19 PM)
weird, you buy stuff and get serve, why end up buy stuff and get tortured?
if so lansi then don't buy lar, very RARE arr that house?

I will continue to insist hiring my own lawyer anyway. I've already engaged my lawyer before buying, and gotten advice already. Damn unfair to not hire after the help given

QUOTE(nookie188 @ May 5 2017, 04:19 PM)
first of all, buyer MUST hire a lawyer to draft the SPA...then lawyer will send to seller's lawyer for approval.

secondly if seller don't want to hire a lawyer he can do so. But buyer must be represented.

Thirdly the seller cannot force you to use his lawyer - where got such nonsense??   Use his lawyer  so they can screw you over ka?
anyway I have never heard of such nonsense ..

ask him to take his property and go fly kite..

Yes, I'm insisting of not using his lawyer to protect myself. My family knows our lawyer for years and has been very responsible in every way.

Anyway, thanks, guys! Closing this as there is nothing more to discuss. Just need to know if there is any legal obligation
