QUOTE(Daniel Hyuuga @ Aug 26 2022, 06:06 PM)
tried to apply MBB CC past month few times.. but keeps getting rejected. Wanted to apply CC with MBB since salary account is with them & easier to pay back.. Applied through cold calls, walk in branch & via email all rejected for Ikhwan Gold, 2 Gold & Shopee

Then started to get cold calls from Affin & AEON, rejected Affin's offer & accept AEON Classic's, an hour later got call again counteroffer with Gold one.. straightforward approve same day in evening.

Also applied for CIMB Cashback plat.. was thinking will get rejected since used to apply h/p for car & they rejected.. waited 20 days & got call approved

has MBB always been very strict in approving CC app?
*
Yes can say so.
Last time when i applied my first CC also Maybank rejected. So i apply Citibank and its approved.

General question. Cards in general.

Why do merchants always say "30 minutes b4 12am" and after 12am cannot use card to pay, only cash?

This doesn't make any sense. If right now is 12am MYT and I'm @ somewhere in the world that's 3pm, does that mean my MY issued card wont work? Ridiculous isn't it? It for sure will pass right?

I've tried on small merchants (mamak) up to big merchants (McD) and they have this same practice. Any one with the knowledge, please enlighten me. I really hate that places I'm paying now don't accept cards 30 mins b4 and past 12am.
*
1st time i hear that.
I guess probably merchants already done settlement (procedure to claim payment from bank) for the day so any transactions done after that may be troublesome for accounting.
It should not have prob.

Aeon? Go back make noise for them to cancel transaction then charge again for installment.

Otherwise balance transfer to other cards.

The merchant did refund me and redo the transaction.receipt already mentioned 24 months installment

Transaction date on 3rd of october.untill today still not converted .call banks it is not in installment.fucking hsbc scammer..

Can i report to BNM ? I have the proof which is the receipt.
*
Depends how they do the refund it can take up to 14 days to show up. And i believe they are doing manual refund coz after few days only u went back right?
Btw its HSBC card? Not bank fault though its the person charging your card did not select installment mode.

Report BNM? No case there coz they already cancelled/refunded just need to wait the refund to appear.

QUOTE(adbacc @ Oct 11 2022, 06:42 PM)
Want to ask below situation, whether my understanding is correct:
Let's say my card have CL of 12k, start with 0 balance (assume installment no charges, interest)
Day 1 spend 12k, convert into 12 month installment (1k x12)
Day 2 pay credit card 6k
Day 3 spend 6k, convert into 12 month installment (0.5k x12)

What happens now as the payment of 6k exceed the amount of both installment? (1.5k)
As in statement will end up -4.5k? In that case no need to pay statement balance for a few months as long as it stays negative?
*
Depend which bank, some bank even if u did overpayment purpose to do installment it may not go thru.
Best is u call up ur bank and ask them. Try a few CS just to double confirm, coz some may not know and simply give answer..

Yes usually as long got -ve amount u wont need to pay statement balance.

p/s: I think i tried that instalment trick with Maybank and the officer said it dont work that day....

I went back to merchant after about 10 days .merchant refunded me personally on the spot.and redo the installment.the staff did admitted her mistake not choosing installment when doing payment so the boss is okay to do again the transaction in installment manner.

Yup hsbc card.i did have the proof on the receipt.the 2nd transaction which clearly mentioned 24 months installment..do bank deserve to reject the installment ? Why so stingy one.i only have one installment with hsbc and this is 2nd one.maybank so far no issue and i have total 4 installment with them
*
U mean refund cash? wow u untung points/cashback then.

Yup thats why.maybe thats the reason bank tak puas hati tak approve my installment then...13th is my statment date .if by that date still not in installment,i dont know what else to do.maybe just BT
*
Im confused....u said they gave u cash (as refund) and charged another time via installment.
Bank does not need to "approve/convert" your purchase manually because its all done from the credit card machine.
Since u said u already get new receipt which shows installment months then its already done and correct.
Bank does not need to again check and "approve" installment.

Get it?

QUOTE(hye @ Oct 12 2022, 12:24 PM)
Note to member (and everyone else) that I disapprove the use of vulgarity anywhere in this forum and not to mix this with freedom of expression.

Now to answer your question, it may take a while before the transaction is reverted. The same way any cc transaction need to be posted by the merchant to the bank, this applies here too.

Not to be mistaken that it is not as simple as converting the transaction to be installment. The process involved the merchant cancelling the original transaction and creating a new one as an installment. Next the merchant need to post these 2 transactions and if I am not mistaken merchant have up to 180 days to do so. And your transaction  will remain status quo until the merchant have done so.

HSBC captures these information electronically when they are posted. Please understand the process of how these transactions work and not blatantly throwing profanities. Anyone would be upset but doing that here would not solve your problems.
*
He said merchant refunded cash to him, and charge another time with installment.
So the installment should appear in next statement while the previous charges will still be there as it was never "cancelled" since they refunded cash to him.

Tbh its kinda hard to advise him coz he dont seem to understand how it works.

hi I’m a newbie I just get my Hong Leong wise card. I want to ask that if I reload tng via credit card for cashback purpose. Then I should not cash out to my bank immediately to avoid banned right? What if I keep the money in go+ , then cash out about 2 weeks later, is it ok?
*
Nobody can guarantee that, although i've been doing that (ranging 1 week to 1 month) for many times already.
I even cash-out then cash-in immediately from CC.

I also do use tng ewallet buying groceries once a while though.

Question: Got a new credit card this past August, cancelled another one last month, applied for another credit card this month that got rejected.

If I were to apply for a different credit card from a different bank, should I wait a few months before trying? TIA
*
Applying for different bank shouldnt have problem no need waiting time.

U might want to check CTOS and CCRIS to find out why ur application rejected.
Most of the times bank wont reject unless u got blacklist, bad paymaster, or record too clean (never have any loan/CC before).

Whats your recommendations for prepaid card and virtual card? Need prepaid card for elderly to make contactless payments without using a smartphone. Need virtual card for myself for online shopping.
I'm looking at bigpay since the annual fee is zero if there is at least one payment every month.
*
BigPay has physical and virtual card.

Aeon has prepaid card.
Aeon card is quite good if ur parents shopping at Aeon. Certain days got extra cashback or extra points for purchases.

BigPay points used to be great when they still have conversion with Samsung points but now its not so great for me anymore coz limited points redemption method.

Why illegal? It is a service provided for premier card holders.
*
The "queing service" is illegal.

Imagine u go post office or bank or JPN or Immigration and got 30 ppl queue infront of u.
When u queing suddenly some guy come ask u "amoi u mau potong queue kah? Rm10 nah ini number queue u punya".

I swear its deemed illegal but i dont recall what its called.

QUOTE(d3ck @ Jan 31 2023, 05:58 PM)
Hi.

Not sure if this a correct place to ask but I'll ask anyway

Last week when walking a mall there's a Citi booth offering TnG credit for welcome gift. I sign up for most lowest card there. I think the requirements are RM2000/m salary. I'm signing up just for the sake of the welcome gift. Unfortunately today I just read the email it got rejected. I just want to know what might be the reason.

My salary is RM6000/m (not include commissions etc. Sometimes that months no commission, received basic salary only) which meet the minimum requirements. Never had a credit card before tho. I do have 100k ASB & 40k PTPTN, both are auto debit. Never missed any payment. Just curious what you guys think might be the reason for that.
*
Try check ur ccris and ctos score.
U dont have CC before?

QUOTE(d3ck @ Jan 31 2023, 06:51 PM)
I applied for the lowest one that time. Maybe need to start having a credit card. But how to get a card before having credit card. Haha
I could say my debt salary ratio is healthy for now. No car/motorcycle loan, no house loan, in fact no other loan except for ASB (RM443) & PTPTN (RM130).
*
Not related but just curious, u dont have other loans and salary not low, why dont clear ur ptptn loan? iinm its not low interest if taking into account of the month fees and charges.

Idk how to calculate normally i just assume its correct, as i normally pay full every time.
However some times may pay late or missed due date but so far most banks willing to waive the interest and/or late payment fee, EXCEPT Standard Chartered Bank.
