Anybody got any idea if all top ups with overseas CC had been disallowed?
It seems strange but it seems that there had been restrictions on the usage of overseas Credit Cards in Malaysia...
Online phone prepaid are disallowed, tng top up at tng offices, even ordering domino pizza online....
This seems to be peculiar to Malaysia, I thought that Visa/MC have regulations on the acceptance of CC? Any foriegn card surcharges are borne by the card holder, i don't see why the disparity.
*
bump u here for general questions ....

usually malaysian merchants only accepts Malaysia CCs.

you need to check with respective merchant whether they accept non-malaysian cc.

Bankruptcy cases involve 294,000 Malaysians a year, says Abdul Rahman

https://themalaysianreserve.com/2017/09/15/...y-fixed-income/

A TOTAL of 294,000 Malaysians are involved in bankruptcy cases due to their failure to settle hire-purchase loans, credit-card loans, personal loans, housing loans andsocial guarantor debts (due to errant debtors) in a year, said the Department of Insolvency DG Datuk Abdul Rahman Putra Taha yesterday.

He said according to the department’s statistics, 70% of bankruptcy cases involved individuals between the ages of 35 and 45, and around 8,000 to 20,000 individuals were declared bankrupt for numerous reasons in a year.

“The individuals involved have been urged to come forth and find a solution together with the department and the Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency to avoid prolonging the debt issues faced. Do not be ashamed to deal with us.

“We are always ready to help them to overcome their state of bankruptcy and file a motion to lift their status through the court,” he told reporters after heading the department’s Corruption-Free Pledge signing ceremony with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in Putrajaya yesterday.

Abdul Rahman said the Bankruptcy (Amendment) Bill 2016, which was passed in the Dewan Rakyat in March and expected to be enforced in October, will include eight policy changes that will be explained during a nationwide tour.

9 key changes brought about by the Bill:

http://www.zicolaw.com/legal-alert-malaysi...nsolvency-laws/

1. Voluntary Arrangement introduced as a new rescue mechanism
2. Stringent requirements for service of bankruptcy notice and creditor’s petition
3. Single order of bankruptcy introduced

4. Minimum debt threshold has been increased sweat.gif
The minimum debt threshold for the filing of a bankruptcy petition has been increased from RM30,000 to RM50,000.

5. Stronger protection for social guarantors
6. Leave of court required to commence bankruptcy proceedings against other guarantors
7. New list of bankrupts to be allowed discharge
8. Automatic discharge introduced
9. Establishment of the Insolvency Assistance Fund

yep, but ~50 days interest free if you spend on 25-Dec only.

the 20-day interest free is from bill date, not not everyday spending will get ~50 days.

dont think so, it's just a post-transaction notes, has no valuable info to trigger a transaction. furthermore, there is SMS notification or OTP to your mobile.

I don't think so because i can apply loan i cant apply credit card

I wonder why Malaysia credit card so strict ...

I work in oversea too... i can apply loan to purchase my house and car in malaysia on same bank. Then they offer me free for life credit card because i got 2 loans with them then i apply ...in the end cant get through. I gave them my oversea income, oversea bank statement, oversea tax then local income. Everything request gave ...they even call my company in oversea to verify.

Then end of the day ask me put FD RM7k to get a credit card with credit limit RM7k ...what a joke ...and i reject.
*
there is a reason why credit card is known as unsecured loan and why rm7k fd is known as collateral to the cc/unsecured loan.

Hi, can I know why this is so? I thought Ringgitplus always offers all sorts of attractive gifts/rewards upon sign up  drool.gif
*
the question was which option is better, so direct from bank is better.

if u hunting for gifts, then RP. but get ready to wait or angry or annoyed if they process it very very long. some ppl paranoid to submit info thru RP as well.

Hi guys, I recently just started using my Maybank 2 Cards and currently have around RM1k+ in outstanding balance in it. The minimum payment amount is RM68 but I paid RM100 instead. Is this good enough?
*
straight answer: NO!

you should not use cc at all if you continue with this cc repayment practice.

reason: read above explanation.

Yes, I know this may not be the best practice and I've actually never used my CC like this before. Normally I will use it for small purchases and pay the full amount. But last month I had an emergency and had to use the CC to pay. So I just want to know if how I am paying the balance is okay-ish. Of course paying off the full amount is ideal.

P/S: I am not planning to use my CC any further until I pay off all the outstanding balance.
*
if possible, please try to make complete payment to clear statement balance by due date.

usually, you would have +20 days after statement date to clear the outstanding in your statement.

pay according to details listed in your statement.

if just pay min or not full, the remaining balance will attract interest, and it's not pretty as the rate is high.

Is there any cashback card that do NOT refund in RM XX blocks?

Sample taken from Citibank TnC:
If the accumulated cash rebate is less than RM20 for a particular Billing Month, the total cash rebate amount will be carried forward to the following Billing Month, and will be taken into account in determining the Cardmember’s cash rebate entitlement for that following Billing Month. If the Cardmember has not accumulated an aggregate of RM20 in cash rebates for that Billing Month, the
total accumulate cash rebate amount will continue to be carried forward to the subsequent Billing Month and so forth.

*
refund? what exactly are you referring?

other cards with cb usually credit cb by calendar month or statement month.

By refund, I mean credit cashback amount.
Citibank pays in RM 20 "blocks" so if it takes me 4 months to accumulate RM 20 cashback, I'll only get RM 20 after 4 months. It used to credit in RM 50 blocks so RM 20 is better now but still takes a while to accumulate.

Was wondering whether is this common practice or is there other bank that credits cashback for any amount within statement month e.g. RM 0.50 cashback.

Did a quick scan through on Maybank's FC Barcelona Cashback card TnC and Product Disclosure - looks like Maybank doesn't have this rule.  Can anyone with experience pls confirm?  Thanks.

afaik, not other banks.

Cops cripple condo post box syndicate

https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2017...-box-syndicate/

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have crippled a syndicate that intercepted cheques and credit cards at post boxes in condominiums following the arrest of five suspects including a woman.

City police chief Comm Datuk Mazlan Lazim said that the group, known as the "Ah Chong" group, would alter the cheques or use the credit cards to purchase items online before selling them for cash.

He said the modus operandi of the syndicate was to intercept cheques and credit cards that were sent through post at letter boxes in apartments and condominiums.

"The syndicate members would then purchase items online that were easily sold for cash such as handphones," he told reporters after witnessing the handing over of duties to new Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Ghani Mohd Ji from Asst Comm Chong Kok Sin at the Cheras district police headquarters here on Thursday (Nov 9).

Comm Mazlan said the suspects, in their 30s and 40s, were arrested during a raid at about 7pm on Nov 4 at a condominium at Jalan Ampang here.

He said police also seized several MyKads that were believed to be fake, handphones, laptops, several debit cards and credit cards, cheques as well as equipment that were believed to be used to alter the cheques.

"We believe that the syndicate has been active since August," Comm Mazlan said.

Hi,

Need some nelp here. Im going to purchase something about 10k and the shop offer 0% interest for 12months for Maybank CC. Is it possible to extend it to 24months or 36months? How do i go about? Thanks.
*
conversion to installment at the point of purchase is called EzyPay smile.gif

there are options to opt 36 months (max). for this you need to check with the merchant if they open this option.

EPP question:
If EPP on RM3000 item for 24months and my credit limit is RM10000, then it will become RM7000 for 24 months, back to RM10000 again after I settle all the installment.

OR

If my monthly installment is RM300, my credit limit will be increased back slowly by RM300 a month. Like first month my credit limit becomes RM7300, then next month RM7600 and so on.

So which one is it?
*
2nd scenario

each monthly installment cleared will restore the CL gradually.

I did some digging.

As long as the outstanding payment is zero. I do not need to worry about statement balance as i already paid it off so is my understanding is correct?

Kinda dumb that the system implemented online ask you to pay the statement balance when i have already fully paid it...
*
not dumb.

statement-ed amount never change. it's fixed. it doesn't TELL you to pay, it's just a statement info for the current cycle USAGE. it's just like postpaid mobile bill.

what u truly owe is outstanding amount. it increases or decreases according to spending or payment.

benefit of postpaid-monthly billing is you only need to clear each statement amount, latest by due date. any newer spending after current statement date, will be billed in next statement cycle.

since u cleared all outstanding amount, then it's fine anyway. it doesn't CHANGE the fact of your statement amount, right? what were spent is documented in the statement.

it's called Cash Advance, and definitely come with certain % rate. check respective card/bank fees.

whether this is a smart move, hope you can decide and weigh the pros-cons, whether it's worth or not.
