The only reason I purchased a VPN is to unblock Geo restricted content online. I use ivacy vpn to Unblock Netflix and Stream Netflix US form Canada.  bruce.gif

For me I just change DNS and tweak a couple of advanced settings on the router to get around geo-block. No VPN needed. Works with all my devices.

How do you do that ? Please explain.

If the site detects your public IP, how can changing DNS and router settings change the IP seen by the other end.

Genuine question.

You can PM me and I will explain to you as best as I can as well as show you. Some networking knowledge is required.

is it free?

Its a paid service. But definitely worth it once you get it working. I have done this for many of my friends.

I have done some reading on this.

I think this only works for certain services. It is not able to work for all services. For example, it won't work for YouTube which has been geo blocked.

Yes. Specifically SmartDNSProxy. They also provide VPN as well so its the best of both worlds. I only pay 19.90USD per year. Have been using it since 2016.

i use both smartDNS and expressVPN.

but now i only use VPN for individual device. less headache and problems. everything is accessible using expressVPN

I use SmartDNSProxy. They also provide VPN so its the best of both worlds. My router also supports VPN with policy routing so I can route certain devices through the VPN so no need to touch the individual device. Everything done from network side.

Nah any cucimiao VPN can do encryption. The only important measurement of VPN quality is the speed.

Don't forget your ISPs International Link and Peering speeds + latency.

Is USA one of the most important country for geo block by-pass ?
*
In general yes. Got a lot of US services you can use.

i guess it all works and depends on what u wanna do. If its just for home, to install it in router is one of the option.

For me sometimes i travel and bring my box as well. I can just connect to any internet and connect VPN within the box
*
I also have OpenVPN server support on the router so while I'm outside of the network, I can just VPN into the network to use the DNS service.

Eh $19.90 per year? I tot it cost more than that?
*
I got lifetime discount. Definitely worth it. Much better than Getflix which provide one-time lifetime account(40 years) but restrict your US Netflix access to your web browser.
