if i not mistaken, the shop that i purchase from had told me that the last owner had done VC, engine oil and oil filter changed, and front fork serviced, only rear shock is remain stock.
i will try to look for the rear monoshock that you suggest.

how about the ECU flash, any suggestion for this ?

XJ6 owner here from Penang, had the bike for little bit over a year for 28,000KM, the rear shock u can buy from a guy called Azri Shahrir on Facebook in the XJ6 Malaysia group, I am currently using his fully adjustable mono RM950, rebound and preload only is RM750
When I got the bike it came with a YSS, but it kept leaking even after 2 times service, so I decided to bite the bullet, the performance is close to YSS but a fair bit cheaper.

For the ECU flash it's not really needed for this bike, you can set the CO in the meter of the bike itself to add more fuel, my bike is running an Arrow manifold with a chinese SC project, the plugs look perfect and not running lean.

may I know, who serviced the YSS? and both serviced by same shop? I think this one is preload and rebound adjustable only

did you get the fully adjustable unit? can show pic?

I serviced at 2 different shops, the first one more kampung type, after service it lasted 3 months before leaking again, second shop in Penang, their workmanship is quite poor and scratched the shock a lot, also lasted 3 months, this was before I found out there is a specialized YSS service center at Selangor.

I sent the shock to another shop but found that previously the shock mount stem thingy was overtightened, and jammed, so they could not open it up, so whatever I just changed to this one, it looks cooler as well haha

nice, looks like custom mono
this one also preload + rebound? or also fully with compression?
*
preload + rebound + compression, this mono is actually for the R25 but the guy had CNC'ed custom bushings for it to fit the XJ6.
There are quite a few owners who installed other aftermarket R25 mono, all u had to do was grind the original bushings a few mm, but they were too soft even with the compression maxed out, the one I got works very well, even with a pillion rider high speed cornering it doesn't bounce, although the spring is not as hard as the YSS one, the compression adjustment makes up for it.

oh.. nice to meet you bro, i also from penang, sungai jawi area. which are penang you from ?
got any XJ6 whatsapp or wechat group you in ? if got can i join in ?
what is the rear shock brand or local made that you purchase from the facebook seller ?

can i know how much CO setting you set on your meter ?
and what muffler do you using ? can show some photo how is your piping is ?
where does your muffler put ? under or do you extend to the rear foot rest area ?
*
Im from raja uda biggrin.gif , I dont really join the bike specific groups hahaha, I get most of my info from the facebook group as the bike is quite bulletproof,
Although I do recomend buying an ori R25 rectifier to keep standby under ur seat, it is the most common thing to break.
The rear shock is a chinese brand, JSMT, with custom made bushes.
My CO right now for both co1 and co2 are at 18, haven't noticed much of a difference if I increase it to 20+ tbh.
I have like 4 chinese mufflers hahaha, akra, two brothers, different sc projects, my muffler is hanging at the rear footrest, if yours is a short underbelly pipe then maybe increase the CO a little bit more

give it another try without the windshield. this is so you get clean air coming to you. although ull have to tahan the air to ur chest for the test.

most ppl put big windshield coz they want the air to go OVER their helmet which creates its own problems....
- it creates a vacuum in the area between windshield and rider
- vacuum sucks air from all around it causing turbulence which in turns causes buffeting.
- add ur body to it which pushes air away even more, and pillion suffers more from the vaccum n turbulence

so first try to get clean, non turbulent air to ur helmets...theyre (mostly) designed to cut through air anyway.

if it works, then perhaps look into smaller windshields that pushes air away from ur chest but ur helmet still gets clean air.

on my z9, the air is directed to my chin bar. and on a z9, where the pillion sits higher than rider, pillions helmet is basically in clean air so i have no issue with pillion complaining about buffeting.

Hows ur experience with a pillion rider on ur Z9? Im thinking of getting one over the MT09 but my pillion felt it is a bit weird as the pillion seat is quite high up, I havent had the chance to ride it yet though, just sat on it at the shop, and may I ask what windshield ur using? biggrin.gif
