Last monday went and bought a new bike directly from the owner and sold my bike at the same time and same place.
I never thought it was that easy. For buyers u dont even have to be there, just give ur name, ic and address and thats it. The process of changing the name is like less than 5 minutes!

So after the name changing, the buyer have 7 days including holiday to get a new pink slip from any jpj in malaysia. To do that u need to pay for the insurance 1st and roadtax then u can get ur new title.
So protip to anyone who wanted to sell their bikes, just dont renew ur insurance and roadtax if u really want to sell it because after u transfer the “hak milik” at jpj all will be canceled.

Was delighted that the process is so easy and fast that i could not almost believe it lol

Hi,

I have never bought a bike from direct owner before. Anyways I also dont have any motorcycle license but aiming for used triumph street triple R at the moment. Previously rode a ninja 250. I guess to protect buyer and owner, it is safer for both to be at JPJ to change name? I worry in the case that buyer pay owner, then owner give bike and geran but somehow owner submit police report saying bike is 'stolen'. Also change name no need motorcycle license right?

Thanks bro. Ride on.

Guys, anyone experienced buying second hand bike from direct owner before? Owner still got loan with bank and on the geran / title itself it says -hakmilik dituntut oleh bank XXXX-. So what is the proper procedure for the buyer? Ask owner to settle the balance with bank XXXX first then only proceed with tukar nama?

Stay away from this kind of deal. If the owner can settle the balance and change the ownership to his/her own name then u can consider buying.
Please do not buy the “sambung bayar” ones and also the “JT” or jalan terus (it means the owner didnt pay the bank for the vehicle so u know what will happen) and the risk is up to u.

Ya personally i prefer the owner to settle the balance itself first and get the geran / title to be redeemed from the bank. Then can proceed with the normal process. Ill have to see if owner got enough capital or not to settle the loan.

Im not going through the sambung bayar thingy.

i hv witnessed frm afar, its like buyer will pay d guy who wana sell the bike still under finance. buyer pay cash, seller settle the amount with bank etc with the cash. then only proceed tukar nama.

there is some sorta b+w made between the two parties and signed wit ic stated etc.

cos both parties r genuine seller + buyer...
*
Ya thats what is being proposed at the moment, a bnw agreement. I suppose this is common, but i suspect legally it is not binding since the bike legally is claimed by the bank and the owner actually is not legally able to sell it until he/she finish paying for the loan. The drawback for buyer is that you have to depend on trust i guess.

for expensive bike, no way most owner can settle it with own cash n then only sell.
wht if buyer ffk... ??

tht time buyer came with over 50k cash.. settle in a few days, aft bank in..

so need to make sure seller is genuine.

I guess as a buyer what assurance or document that protects buyers side before banking huge amount of money for seller to settle their loan. For all we know seller can also provide bike first to seller then submit police report saying bike is stolen.

I guess my search for the perfect bike continues...

Guys im in a dilemma between used street triple R 675 or used MT07. I fell in love with th whistling sound of the STR. I can imagine it makes me smile every morning when i start the engine of the 3 cylinder 675. Bike very light nimble and will be easy for my commute to KL. I have a hard time finding a used STR though, some got loan, some priced to high and new ones also not much discount from fast bikes.

Yesterday went to meru to check out used MT07. Lady at shop allow me to start engine and sit on it. The 2 cylinder crossplane sounds better than ninja 250/650. I researched online a bit and the bike seems to bring out the hooliganism in you. Probably bring out the dark side in me and wheelie in between cars at NKVE highway.

So now im torn between two. Market for 2016 mt07 around 25k while 2014-2016 str around 34-40k.

Any owners can share their ownership experience in terms of service / availability of spare parts.yamaha need to go sg buloh while triumph go to fast bike? Both ok?

Thanks guys

used mt09 can get below 30k is u slowly look. even cheaper oso if buy direct frm owner.  mt07 should be priced lower used, but shop n seller still refuse to lower price. used z650 more features and newer than used mt07 oredi price lower 22k? one mudah ad. thts my market observation.

Initially was looking at MT09 as well but i think it is a bit overkill for my application. Didnt manage to hear stock exhaust but one fitted with racing muffler sounds too loud for me n my neighbour.

Guys want to ask. If buying a second hand bike with no more loan, is it safe for buyer to pay full amount prior to official jpj change name process and there is an agreement between buyer n seller? Plan is seller will then go change name at JPJ without buyer at different date and then within 7 days buyer will also go to JPJ independently to complete the process.
