Lejan your R25 until it snapped? What's the damage on your wallet for this?

And your mileage?
*
Between RM5 to 9k damage depending on options/availability

20k km mileage and only 2 years ownership

Could it be oil pump failure?
*
Nope oil pump no problem
All 8 valves no problem
Crank shaft no problem (but can't use back cuz damaged from the rods crashing down them)

Quazacolt You got a bike yet?
*
No sir.

Money saved up since last year but couldn't find a half cut engine at the price I'm willing to pay.

At the rate it's going with MCO, I'll probably save up enough to buy a brand new engine from HLYM laugh.gif

Like some my friends say, change bike la. JK.
What would you do differently once you get the bike back up and running? Different oil?

Any plans to get something else? Or, still want to hold on to the previous one? I think you'll like 600cc sportsbikes, especially those non ride-by-wire ones. Lately, the price line between 600~1000cc is very blur. Of course la, older bikes, not something within the last 5 years.
*
Seriously la never considered to change.
At most add another but I'll keep the R25.

Maybe ride more sedately, married after all.

Nothing to do with oil since I'm already using top of the line racing oil and doing absurd intervals like 2500 km oil changes.
Opening up the engine also proven that it is nothing to do with oil, the conrods just snapped from (guessing) heat stress and seized up the entire engine.

Maybe I'll get something else but it'll be on a distant future, and like I said, only add on.
I'm thinking a liter class SuperSports, always wanted to record 300kph and literbikes do it so effortlessly lol.
Like you said, price blurred, might as well go all the way.

And with my finances, ideally I need to finish servicing my car loan and R25, that's 7 more years (9 years on my car YOLO)
So who knows if by then I'll lose interest? No idea.

Also, recommending my friends to up their fork oil (R25, Ninja 250s, TNT135 etc) from stock to 20W.
The R25 I've tested, are firm on the rear, but front is lacking damping.
*
i would say 15.
20 is too firm and may lack mechanical road gripping capability and especially worse with the stock rears.
your fronts need to compress properly so you get grip during rebound.

i am commenting from the standpoint of having front preload added and rear Ohlins shock.
stock is way too soft.

What's the stock oil wt? I think it is Yamaha 10wt.

Comparing the R25 fork to the SV650 fork oil wt test video, so you think going to 15wt is good enough? I'll check on their bikes and let them know then. As long as the front rebound and rear can match, then it'll be a better start to ride it aggressively, before making further changes. Now with stock, front is lacking damping.
Got check with GMT parts?
*
Didn't know 3M Had those
I'm using 3M but without the longer stick

Stock R25 is 10w and usually under filled (or their oil sucked so bad it evaporated) from factory. So the first fork service would yield the most drastic improvements.

Yes I've seen the SV650 video and I still think it's over stiff.
You need your fork to compress to produce mechanical grip. You'll feel nice/firm cuz there's less movements, it's akin to cars getting super stiff spring rates and say be awesome grip maximum performance sweat.gif

So yes I still think 20w is too much especially if your rear shock is stock.
I run 15w on SIC and Sepang go Kart with Ohlins rear and it's more than enough damping (on the front)

GMT had one on October 2019, it was sold before I can negotiate as I'm on a tight budget.
Now with MCO, I would prefer to save up cash although it is really tempting to just go HLYM and get a built/crate engine if that's even possible.

Any tips wearing them on a full face. I tried some plugs the other day and once I pull it over my ears, it just slipped off. I had to slip my finger in while putting my helmet on..
*
i wear this and no problem fitting it before i wear my balaclava then helmet. no need to slip finger in at all.
