I'm sure many of the gamers out there, including me are wondering what are the best GPU to date that will fulfil all gamers needs - Fastest speed, significant decrease in load time, highest frame-per-rate (FPS) possible for smooth gameplay experience, etcetera...

What I know so far is, every GPU has it's own pros and cons. There is NEVER going to be the BEST GPU available as games nowadays are designed in such as way that we'll never know. Games that ultilize DX9 or OpenGL such as F.E.A.R., Half Life 2 and Doom 3 will definitely run smoothly with the latest nVidia based GPU.

Hopefully the list below will help you see for yourself the hardware performance guide for each GPU so far:

Doom 3
The Sims 2
F.E.A.R.

To conclude, games like The Sims 2, GPU, CPU Clock, Memory are definitely the most important issues you would like to consider before turning on the MAX setting for graphic performance.

For games like Doom 3, nVidia Geforce 6800 is sufficient enough to run it with max resolution with no FPS drop.

Dude, DX9 is so lame.
There's already DX10 liao. laugh.gif

And the best GFX available for end users nowadays are Nvidia 8800GTX 768MB.
That's the best right now, no other cards can beat it's performance.

But as you yourself said that there will be no "There is NEVER going to be the BEST GPU", so there will be a better card in the future, but in the present, the 8800GTX is the best for end users like us. smile.gif

But that's if you have the money to afford.

A single 8800GTX is RM2200, buy two means you have to spend RM4400 just on graphic card laugh.gif

Because it's an old technology, that's why. laugh.gif

I'm trying to explain to TS, that there is already DX10.
So DX9 is an old technology.

So i called it as lame, as there is already a card that supports DX10

nope, the thing is, u dun get it. today's game even hardly use SM3.0, there will be a long time b4 game developer start to utilise SM4.0. therefore, even if u have a DX10 card now, u cant expect to play DX9 game using DX10 sm4.0. DX9 will be here to stay for at least a year & half or more, the technology isnt new, and yet it isnt old. after that, u can expect games to have a mandatory for DX10. please note that the crysis demo that was shown in E3 is using ATi 1900 card, and it is a DX9 card.

See, i know you will misunderstood what i said.

I said the DX9 is lame coz it's old.
I'm stating that DX9 is just old.

I'm not saying that DX9 is lame.
Aiya.. doh.gif

Read the TS firstpost in this thread.
He takes the DX9 as a new technology.

I'm only stating that there is graphic card that there is DX10 ready.
And stating that there is already DX10.

Aiya...
Once again, don't misunderstood what i said. shakehead.gif

The current game can't even fully utilize even a single 8800GTX card, let alone SLi. It's overly, massively over powered.

Add-on:
I ran Supreme Commander in max resolution and the loading was instant and the gameplay is very smooth.
NFS Carbon is very smooth until I pause the game for some time and play back, a bit jerky. Maybe it's too hot.

actually the game might be not fully utilize it, but when comes into super-duper hi-resolution say @2048x1536 or even higher...8800GTX SLI might be the solution...thumbup.gif

Single 8800GTX is NOT "overly, massively over powered". From what I've tried so far, a single 8800GTX cant even handle Oblivion n COD2 at 2560x1600 n max graphics detail. For that, I'll need SLi.

DX10 is lame:
(1) No game support currently. Maybe another 2 years to become mainstream.

(2) If VISTA don't take off fast enough, DX10 is also pointless. Also, with so many problems with VISTA, i'll prefer to stick to XP as my gaming platform for another 1 or 2 years at least.

(3) VISTA support for Creative sound card is quite lame. Very lame in fact. With no EAX support, all your high-end X-fi and even Audigy card is forced to sound like a normal built-in soundcard. OpenAL support currently is still pretty dodgy and nowhere near the hardware acceleration level of EAX.
