Mac OS X Leopard 10.5 - a May 2007 release?
Posted by: switchtoamac

As a followup to yesterday's post about the Mac OS X 10.4.9 update, we indicated that we would put forth our prediction of when Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard would likely be released by Apple.  This post provides a prediction

Key Facts and Items

   * At WWDC 2006 (August 2006) Steve Jobs announced a "Spring 2007" Leopard release
   * Apple executives continue to highlight a "Spring 2007" release
   * The latest Leopard Build (9A377a) was released to Apple Developer Connection members on March 4, 2007 - buzz in the Apple community is that the release is far from stable and not ready for release
   * Steve Jobs's WWDC speech indicated Leopard had several "Top Secret Features" that could not be announced until a later date
   * Macworld 2007 (January 2007) didn't disclose any "Top Secret Features"
   * No details of any top secret features have emerged since then
   * Mac OS X 10.4.9 Tiger has been released

And when we run out of animals in the 'Cat'egory, perhaps they'll substitute it with another category that's just as furry/hairy? Er.. Orang Utan perhaps?! *grins* tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

evilhomura89,
Apple does give free upgrade, but according to long time users of Mac, the free upgrade is given to those who purchase their systems 2-4 weeks prior to the launch of the new OS.

PS: Then again, Uncle Stevie might decide NOT to give any free upgrade, or he can choose to give it to ALL Mac users FOC *shrugs* tongue.gif

I think you got it the other way round.

Vsita;s GUI looks like Tiger. As for Leopard, it's a game of wait and see....

for those who hoping for new look like WinXp -> Vista. You can stop hoping.
10.4 to 10.5 is just a 0.X update as you aware. It's not a new version. Just a major updates that's all. Expect new feature, but overall will stay veryt much familiar.

Even on the last developer seed I've tried, 10.5 9A343 doesn't spill much beans on the unannounce new features.

For some screenie and details on the beta progress: link
