QUOTE(LegendLee @ Nov 8 2018, 12:47 PM) Or you can just change the fan inside your PS4 pro and replace the thermal paste. Newer models uses a much quieter fan (nidec) after few hours of ular in office doing some reading on the fans Mine sounds like a jet engine when pushing 4K content too, but just too lazy to change the fan. it seems delta or nidec fan doesn't make much of difference, some model already come with nidec fan yet still noisy but most solve it by re-apply thermal paste, I think I'm gonna do that one of the weekend |

Update on my PS4 Pro that sounds like jet engine when playing taxing games like RDR2, MHW, GoW
So I had it with the extremely distracting loud fan noise while gaming, even I still have one more year of extended warranty left, and I had some free time yesterday, so I decided to F* the warranty and want to have some peace. So... - I went to bought a small pack of Grizzly Kryonaut from PC shop for RM25 - Open up my PS4Pro using the easy to follow instruction from ifixit, https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/PlayStation+4+...placement/88800 - Dismantled the whole motherboard to reach the heat sink - Saw how Sony PS4 manufacturer did a very poor job of applying thermal paste, basically the paste is all over the place yet only covered around 80% of the CPU - Cleaned up the ori paste with some alcohol, and applied the Kryonaut using the X method - Vacuum out any of the accumulated dust on fan, heat sink, and any parts of the console - Assembled back - power on, and walla! my console is so much quieter! it's more than 50% reduce in noise when playing RDR2, no more annoying loud fan noise when playing!! TL:DR version Took apart my PS4Pro to remove the factory applied thermal paste and reapply using a quality one, no more jet engine loud fan noise. As confirmed by my machine, fan replacement is not necessary, the main culprit is the poorly applied thermal paste between the CPU and the heat sink, probably poor quality one also, as some part on the CPU is already dried up. |

QUOTE(azyune @ Dec 8 2018, 11:38 AM) QUOTE(GamersFamilia @ Dec 8 2018, 04:45 PM) i've seen some scalpers already reduced the price ( via facebook ) , previously selling at rm3.9k and now rm3.7k .. I guess its hard to sell LOL, there are 50K units out there in the world, plenty out there, it doesn't justify the stupid price tag of 15k, or even double of the RRPscalpers will always be scalpers, just like the hyenas, all they think about is quick profits! making life difficult for those who really appreciate it and just wanna to collect |

QUOTE(Zaryl @ Dec 14 2018, 09:11 AM) Just started playing Horizon Zero Dawn yesterday. LOL, welcome to the noisy jet engine fan club, you're not the only one, it's a common problem for a lot of the PS4Played on QUALITY settings & HDR turned ON on my samsung 58" 4K HDR10 tv. i can hear my ps4 pro's fan screaming almost like jet engine most of the times. Is this normal? i never encountered this before when playing other games like BF1, Bloodborne, Doom, The Last of Us remastered & etc mine used to be like that, fan noise on 4K, HDR contents are unbrearble until I've replaced the thermal paste, I've shared my experience few pages back now I'm no longer a jet engine fan club member This post has been edited by greyshadow: Dec 14 2018, 09:23 AM |

QUOTE(Zaryl @ Dec 14 2018, 09:25 AM) will cleaning off the dust at the vents help to reduce this problem? IMO the main culprit is the poorly applied of low quality thermal paste by Sonyi don't want to change thermal paste yet as my ps4 pro is just almost 2 years. if you need to clean the dust off the vent you'll need to open up the mobo to reveal the CPU to access the vent anyway, might as well change the paste at the same time This post has been edited by greyshadow: Dec 14 2018, 10:04 AM |

QUOTE(Zaryl @ Dec 14 2018, 10:58 AM) normally, how much is the thermal paste change costs? Few brands and quality to choose from, I go for the good one, Thermal Grizzly Kyronaut @ RM25 for the smallest pack, more than enough to get the job donebtw, thanks greyshadow & snipersnake for your inputs. make sure you don't use the metal based thermal paste like Conductonaut, which might short your circuit if it over spilled |

QUOTE(WickyWeeky @ Dec 20 2018, 07:39 PM) Just wanna ask, as a guy with alot of backlog of games (damn you, PS sale) , is it wise to buy RDR2 now? Still haven't finish witcher 3 tho.. Scenario A:buy RDR2 now, continue playing Witcher3 or backlog games for another 2, 3 weeks or months RDR2 sits at corner collecting dust, when you got time to play RDR2, it's on sales, facepalm Scenario B: Continue clearing your backlog games, buy only when you wanna play it or on sales, saves $$ Nowadays I only buy games when it's on heavy discounts, or when I have the mood & time to play it now |

I think I retire now and play until I'm 100 years old also cannot finish half |
