I might plan to change to the newer 7200 model if it's true, my pro's jet fan noise is getting into my nerve

after few hours of ular in office doing some reading on the fans
it seems delta or nidec fan doesn't make much of difference, some model already come with nidec fan yet still noisy

but most solve it by re-apply thermal paste, I think I'm gonna do that one of the weekend

play the easiest difficulty like me la

Update on my PS4 Pro that sounds like jet engine when playing taxing games like RDR2, MHW, GoW


So I had it with the extremely distracting loud fan noise while gaming, even I still have one more year of extended warranty left, and I had some free time yesterday, so I decided to F* the warranty and want to have some peace. So...
- I went to bought a small pack of Grizzly Kryonaut from PC shop for RM25
- Open up my PS4Pro using the easy to follow instruction from ifixit, https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/PlayStation+4+...placement/88800
- Dismantled the whole motherboard to reach the heat sink
- Saw how Sony PS4 manufacturer did a very poor job of applying thermal paste, basically the paste is all over the place yet only covered around 80% of the CPU
- Cleaned up the ori paste with some alcohol, and applied the Kryonaut using the X method
- Vacuum out any of the accumulated dust on fan, heat sink, and any parts of the console
- Assembled back
- power on, and walla! my console is so much quieter! it's more than 50% reduce in noise when playing RDR2, no more annoying loud fan noise when playing!!

TL:DR version
Took apart my PS4Pro to remove the factory applied thermal paste and reapply using a quality one, no more jet engine loud fan noise.

As confirmed by my machine, fan replacement is not necessary, the main culprit is the poorly applied thermal paste between the CPU and the heat sink, probably poor quality one also, as some part on the CPU is already dried up.

Did you bought the game from those game sharing service?

LOL, welcome to the noisy jet engine fan club, you're not the only one, it's a common problem for a lot of the PS4

mine used to be like that, fan noise on 4K, HDR contents are unbrearble
until I've replaced the thermal paste, I've shared my experience few pages back

now I'm no longer a jet engine fan club member

IMO the main culprit is the poorly applied of low quality thermal paste by Sony
if you need to clean the dust off the vent you'll need to open up the mobo to reveal the CPU to access the vent anyway, might as well change the paste at the same time

Few brands and quality to choose from, I go for the good one, Thermal Grizzly Kyronaut @ RM25 for the smallest pack, more than enough to get the job done

make sure you don't use the metal based thermal paste like Conductonaut, which might short your circuit if it over spilled

But now it's no longer cheapest if compared to MY PSN, poor conversion rate of MY/USD aren't helping either

MY PSN has constant sales nowadays, some are more heavily discounted than the US store's discount

Scenario A:
buy RDR2 now, continue playing Witcher3 or backlog games for another 2, 3 weeks or months
RDR2 sits at corner collecting dust, when you got time to play RDR2, it's on sales, facepalm

Scenario B:
Continue clearing your backlog games, buy only when you wanna play it or on sales, saves $$


Nowadays I only buy games when it's on heavy discounts, or when I have the mood & time to play it now

non of it come pre-installed, usually it comes with a game disk

but most of the games like RDR2 will have a day one patch, without internet you'll be playing with most of the bugs still intact

if budget allows, spend a little more to grab the better brand like Samsung, Sony or Panasonic

I would avoid the budget Haier 4K TVs if I were you

for multi-consoles gamers like us that's been gaming for decades, that figure is just a tip of the iceberg

I have 100+ backlog on X360, 50+ on PS3, about 80+ or more on PS4, haven't count those on my Vita, 3DS, Wii, & Switch
and a greedy unker I'm, just obtained a XB1s not long ago, start hoarding XB1 games also
if wanna count those on my PC as well? I think I retire now and play until I'm 100 years old also cannot finish half
