Sorry to Re-Post This Since I post on the wrong Thread.

Greetings everyone!

Hi, this is my first post in this lowyat forum. It's been a few years lurking around this forum to get some information, knowledge and reading opinion from the members. Ever since I never thought to become one but unfortunately, today I did becoming one.

So to start my first post, I would like to share about my interview experience for DHL IT Graduate Trainee. I've been looking for the thread to prepare my interview as well but since the thread itself were outdated since it was quite a long time (7-6 years ago). I think my update could be a little bit help for those who are still wondering about this programme and wanted to get a little bit idea on how it goes.

DHL IT Trainee programme.

Its a 18months contract programme. The successful candidate will be putted under certain team according to their interest and skills.

There might be another trainee programme for certain division since DHL have few more department (Supply Chain, Express Service etc..) but I am going to explain more on IT department at Cyberjaya.

Okay so let's start!!

End of November 2016

1. Few days before the interview session, HR called me for phone interview screening and asked few things about myself. Then the HR also will explain a brief information regarding this programme. Upon confirmation, HR sent me an email invitation for the face to face interview.

2. I was so nervous and don't know what should I prepare for the interview. So I just go through Mr.Google to get know how the process will go, studying the company background and revise back what did I learnt during my degree. And finally the interview day came, I arrived at the gate and exchanged my IC for entry pass into DHL building.

3. HR greeted me really nice, warm welcoming. Just don't forget to smile back. After that, she escort me to the second floor to meet with the Hiring Manager. The interview session were really intense, He threw questions by question which I don't know the answer. But I answered in a modest and honesty that I don't know. If they ask you something out of your experience or expertise, just be honest to tell them. Don't rambling nonsense.

4. Later once I finished the interview session, HR came back and give me another written test. The question will be more into Technology, UNIX, simple mathematic and Analytical Question,Which I think the most challenging part (Spoiler: It's about a combination of Perfumes to create another perfume).

And lastly, 45minutes of Coding Written test and SQL.
1. The first coding was to determine the output of the programs.
2.Creating SQL from a given scenario.
3.Solving algorithm problem (Using any Computer language that we know)
(spoiler: Calculating hypotenuse for Pythagoras Theorem).

But some of the question did change from time to time. So preparing to the near "GOD" level could help in most cases.

5. Once finished with the interview and written test. She came back to collect and escort me back to the doorway. She informed me that the results will took 2 week processing and if shortlisted, they will give a call.

~2 Weeks Later ~

I still didn't get any notifications regarding my interview status.
So, I assume I failed the interview and maybe wasn't my luck to work there.

~3 Months Later~

1st week of April 2017

I was invited for a Career day at DHL for the same position again. But this time, around 33 shortlisted candidates joining the career day.

The session started in the morning around 9 am, the DHL staffs give us a talk about the career days, opportunity, company background as well as Q&A at the end of the talk session.

Later, we were divided into 6 groups and self presentation start for each of the candidates. To summaries :

1. DHL speach/talk/Q&A session
2.Self presentation
3.Group presentation
4.Written Test
5.Face to Face Interview

This time, we were given a case study to be discussed among the team members and come up with solutions.

For the Written Test, to my surprise. It's only objective questions without any programming question. All the questions were same as the previous interview and once again, Critical Analyst Question :The perfume combination still hard for me to understand.

After 1 hour written test. We start face to face interview. Most of the candidates will be interview more than once. Some got three times, four times and as for myself , 3 Times.

End of the day.

~Few Days Later~

I got call from DHL HR asking to come for 2nd Interview.
I was a little bit confused since we have done a lot of activities on that day and still got another round of interview.

I come and meet up with the same Hiring Manager and normal Q&A session happen. Since the other Hiring Manager couldn't attend at that time, He just ask me certain question he missed during the Career day. Lastly, I ask about the selection process since we were not given a clear explanation about the process. He said, some of the candidates already selected, some still under KIV and the rest of them didn't pass.

So out of the 33 candidate, I am not sure how many get selected, but unfortunately for the team I interview with, they only need 3 graduates. So far, 1 lucky graduates already pass the selection process. Who will be the luckiest to fill in this 2 person quota?? I also don't know about my status and still waiting , So to conclude my long and boring post. This is how DHL pick the best out of the best. The selection process quite strict in order to produce talented/skilful employees.

For those who are still searching on how the DHL IT trainee interview goes by ,I hope my post could help a bit to get the insights.

Cheers.

~I Will Update my Application Status Later. Pray for meπŸ˜„ ~

Standard pay (2.x ~ 3K). But the experiences will worth a lot because its one of the biggest IT centre for DHL apart from prague.

It's normal to lurk around for some advice and knowledge. I particularly lurk around in finance and career threads because they are more interesting. XD

Anyway, do you know what is the job scope and typical working hour? If they have flexible working hour, that's great and if they ask you to work on Saturday, you might need to think twice.

Commend for sharing your experience. Hope you make it into the graduate trainee program.

Thanks for the info. May I know since you applied for IT graduate trainee, did they say what programming language you will be using? For example, C#,java....etc

I wanted to apply for this programme since they are still hiring but after reading your thread, I don't think I will pass. Also, it's a hassle to call candidate to interview for so many times for a training programme.
