Sindiket tawar siaran ASTRO tidak sah ditangkap.

user posted image

900,000 x 12 / 350 = 30,857.

"The public are reminded not to subscribe to any subscription package such illegal because it was an offense under the Copyright Act 1987." They could be charged under section 232 (b) of the Communications and Multimedia Act which carries a jail term and a fine of up to RM300,000, "acryl Sani said. He said that if there are those who offer such services, the public should immediately report the matter to the relevant authorities for action.

Possible, but it is not worth it. VPN add more latency.

Precisely... not like we have cheap access to Gbps speeds.. I sincerely hope this is not misunderstood to mean that we should be denied access to cheap Gbps internet speeds... shakehead.gif

I think if it's a Malaysia to Malaysia link, it should be quite fast as it is in a "local" network.
That is assuming the Malaysia VPN is truly anonymous.

A VPN server is only as secure as the person(s) who set it up.. Once the encryption is compromised?? Sayonara.. nod.gif

I'm pretty sure the provider can take a portion of his RM900000 to ensure that the VPN server is indeed anonymous.
How about those foreign VPN providers with Malaysia server presence.?
*
As neuromancerx posted.. They are subject to local laws and the authorities (hopefully with a warrant) can at any time demand they (foreign companies) to hand over.. say logs.. etc. This ain't Switzerland.. tongue.gif

For sure.. Until Big Media understands that the average consumer is willing to fork out "some" money for the same services (or even better) and adjusts the current rate or content sharing laws.. The mouse will always be ahead of the cat.

Just want to ask. It's illegal for seller, how about for customer? Is it also illegal if we subscribe overseas content like Hulu and Netflix from U.K or U.S?
*
Subscribing for legit services such as Netflix or Hulu is NOT illegal. What may be considered illegal is when you use some form of location masking tech like DNS/VPN to fool their servers into thinking you are in a different location.. Primarily to gain the advantage of their localized content.. Currently in Malaysia, it's a gray area.. Future? We'll see.

Agreed that. We need some control mechanism.. maybe in future more IPTV service will offered to anybody in this world as long as we have internet connection.
*
Very true... Big Media & restrictive governments are taking their sweet time to understand this. The internet is supposed to break down geographical walls and allow content to be freely accessible. Which is why I believe Netflix, Hulu and Amazon have been investing a lot into their original series and movies. Cuz then they have full control over them and can share it as widely as possible... versus being restricted by the owners. Governments are another thing. smile.gif

Is the streaming lagging or not? Does it have National Geo, National Wild, History, Discovery Science, Discover World etc? I am only interested in documentary channels.

Is it purely Astro channels or got some other channels in the mix?
