Hi guys, is there any app that able to watch local MY channel in IPTV box ?
I'm currently using Minix Neo tvbox to play kodi, now just lack of local tv channels.

RTM app. Tonton. A few others...

these 2 are surely the best for local tv channels.

problem is they work only with android phones, tablets and tv's with androidtv.

do not work with most boxes.

scfans using MINIX brand box. Confirm work if still unroot.

This is the reason I'm using minix box

What is scfans?

What model u hv?

Will be very useful for box buyers if u can confirm all minix models work with astrogo and hypptv e'where.

Device: Minix Neo U1 (if one is in the market for a Minix device, Avoid purchasing any model lower than this).
Astro Go: Works perfectly with or without an Astro account. Of course, it works better with the account than without, as you'd have access to more content. Resolution is SD. Works or off TM's network, but only with a Malaysian IP.
Hypptv Everywhere: Works sparingly and a Hypptv Everywhere account login is preferred. One can get the login from TM if subscribed to a Hypptv package (pretty much all of us). We are given 2 accounts. Problem is, only a few channels work and the rest throw an error 100 or something and won't stream. Works on or off TM's network too. Can't confirm if it works outside the country or not.

i think one person said x8-h works.

what i thought was someone can confirm was if ALL minix will work.
if that can be confirmed, buyers can be sure when buying any minix incl newest u9h.

I understand. Yes it does work on the Neo X8-H Plus too. Minix has a lot of devices including ones running Windows.. With a few more popular than the rest and represented in this forum. So it's quite difficult to expect confirmation from ALL minix devices.. I've used a few of their flagship models and upgraded as necessary.. Typically, once replaced, the older model is sold off and not kept around. For those who are interested in the performance of a much older device and can't find real users here on Lyn, can head over to the official Minix forums and ask. That's if one finds a Malaysian based owner.

I think fr basic at least we need hypptv everywhere and astro on the go. Hopefully someday TM and Astro will consider to make this apps available for any android box...

I don't think so. they will focus on mobile and tablet.

It's quite difficult.. There are too many Android device types out there.. Most of em with bad hardware and software combo.. It's easier when all parties follow the Android standard. But many of these tv boxes do not. Hence problems.

At least they certified few devices for customer to chose. For now we have no option. Only hypptv official box from TM or astro official decorder. I think in future everyone need smart tv box just like we need smart phone today, from cheapest lenovo until expensive iphone .

In future? It's already here ... .. What i would love to see in the near future is having just one device that depending on what it's connected to, acts accordingly. For example, My phone acts as a phone when out and about, connect a monitor, keyboard and mouse and voila, its a fully functioning desktop PC.. Get home, connect to TV and it's instantly a media power house.. Put into the say Samsung Gear VR or Oculus Rift and voila, 3D viewing.. Get in the car, connect and Android Auto/Car Play kicks in on the HU, phone, Navigation, podcasts, audio, video, etc.. all available.... You know, a truly seamless experience across environments. There have been attempts to accomplish this but it needs more time to become mainstream. Ideally all done with high-speed (device to device) wireless connections or cables where unavoidable for the best experience. Till then, I shall reserve my ...

The days are coming.. Qualcomm & ARM partnered with Microsoft and created a Windows 10 for ARM, next-gen laptop PCs will be running Snapdragon 835 with Gigabit LTE, in fact, Phones based on Windows might actually make a comeback. Not forgetting Continuum has been around for some time now, it will get more matured when they get re-introduced into the market IMO.

Yeah.. I had (still do) high hopes for Microsoft's Continuum project.. Giving it some time to mature..

But Samsung, beginning with S8, is starting to do the same thing also, albeit they're running Android. Which is a good thing, so we're actually some changes in the way we use PC in the upcoming days. But PC will always be PC, nothing can replace it.

Yeah, PC remains a PC until more miniaturization and software efficiency is introduced... Smartphones of today are far more powerful than PCs in the past.. So its definitely possible.. C'mon, we've landed men on the moon.. Figure this stuff out and take all this money I'm throwing at the screen...

Yeah, these guys. They've been around for quite long.. Minimum 5 - 6 years. They offered a trial period, a pal used to have a subscription back then and service was good. Don't use em anymore. But I've read even the free content area is quite good and that some may not even need the premium (simpler needs). Thanks for the share.

hypptv... u need to be unifi or streamyx customer to have the hyppbox, id and password.

or...

hypptv everywhere app - u need id and pw from another user willing to let u use it on another device, e.g. tablet or smart tv.

It is free in that u can get id and pw to use hyppewhere from those who dun use them.

In fact, some people dun even use the hyppbox.

the hypptv everywhere now can register via facebook or phone number. the normal tv will be free 1 - 9 and several others.

AOTG does allow some content to stream for free.. I don't have an Astro account and can view content... Unsure if it's free channels, cuz the ones I tested back then were VOD content.

Yep. Hehe. Kinda ok actually. HyppTV streaming is good so far. Rarely encounter buffering. But AOTG sometimes suddenly kick me out of the video and restart the apps. Idk why. When on phone, AOTG never restart. Can't brain if its apps issue or box issue. If got solution do tell me but no worries I'm not desperate. I still can live with that kicking and restarting.

It's your box.. These apps are designed for mobile devices only. The OS on the box is a modified mobile OS forced to run as for the big screen. So obviously some issues will occur with app compatibility. However, there are boxes with much better firmware and so they fare better overall. Exhibit A: Minix.

But I'm currently using Minix Neo U1. Does this means I need to upgrade to U9?

Not necessarily.. Have to wait for an update to see if it fixes the issue. Last I used AOTG (purely for testing), I didn't experience kick outs. I don't have an Ast** account (don't need one ) and only streamed free VOD content.. Played for about 30 minutes, change here, there.. No issue. I run a lean system though and don't simply install any random apps that may bork my system.

I never encounter stuck. AOTG just off the video and restarting. Sometimes just off the video and had to choose again. Its playing me. Hahaha

But nvm. The issue could be the apps itself. Hope the dev is using minix device and encounter the issue thus will fix the issue.

U using remote to scroll down? Use airmouse or mouse. That apps is not remote friendly.

HI, I think I found my answer here...looking for tvbox where my kids can also watch Discover/Nat Geo.
Seems like Android Republica can do that with a Minix box.

.. discovery, natgeo, history channels are not free, they are subscription payable via legit iptv or satellite providers.
.. if anyone says u can get it free, it means they are illegit/illegal streams, nobody wants to talk openly, incl sellers.
.. dis/nat/hist are considered live tv, not video on demand where u can find and watch anytime.

.. if u pay astro. u get them, in HD.
.. u can pay ahem sellers of such packages - they typically sell together with cheap box, no guarantee, u pay upfront for 1-2 years.

.. u heard about android boxes... yes, u can buy them, DIY to get something; been available >6 years now.
.. boxes come in all shapes, sizes, prices, capabilities; simple apps... just about any box can do.
.. some apps are more demanding, need certain boxes with right firmware.
.. u can buy online and DIY yrself; u can buy from shop/online from sellers who will install some apps free for you.
.. DIY or not, these apps come in all forms; these apps come n go, live and die... u need learn to maintain, find new, etc.
.. video on demand for movies and tv shows are easy to find; live tv is harder, live sports in HD is hardest to get.
(popular live sports is billion $ biz, providers spend millions $ to block in more than one way.)
.. using such a box is not pushing buttons with axtro... u need to spend time to learn how to use it effectively; not suitable for very old or very young.

.. specifically about dis/nat/hist - many variations... dis japanese, natgeo arabic, hist russian... chinese, vietnamese, greek, spanish, etc.
.. if just usa or uk, it becomes harder to get, harder even in HD; hardest to get HD reliably in one single app.
.. fairly easy to get to get versions of them in nay language in SD... i.e., u just want some lousy video.

so, u can decide which way to go.
my suggestion is not just read in forums.
go visit yr frens and neighbors who have them, see how they do it, if u r happy with it.
ask questions - what internet speed, what box, what app, where they buy, etc.

The easiest way is to use astrogo or unifi playtv app... but yr box cant do, need new box.

Can use RTM Mobile app, find in playstore... u get rtm1, 2....

I'd suggest you look into EVPAD PLUS, they have their own app for such channels and more e.g. free FWC 2018 channels.

tv is not androidtv, can't sideload android apps.
roku is very much proprietory, can't do generic android apps.

not much u can do to get anything local or within asia.

consider buying an android box, install some apps.
there are free apps that can give u decent msian, sg, hk, taiwan, china live tv channels.
depending on what app, some dun last very long, need new versions frequently... some last a few months.
but they exist, people do share sometimes.
