solid state is the future for mobile hdd

it won't replace conventional magnetic platters since those platter can pack much more GB than SSD economically

SSD is more towards energy saving rather than speed

when the price drops to a considerable level and with large enough capacity, expect this hdd to be a replacement for high performance disks (such as raptors)

SSD are meant for mobile storage and may be high end desktop hdd space for the OS only..........

unless the price falls sharply, it wont make it on the mass market as mass storage media so soon.......

but pc would definately benefit from such as fast hdd.........

if not mistaken samsung showcase some hybrid SSD and conventional rotating disc hdd........... u can go check it out

Flash memory prices have been falling like crazy, so i'm not surprised if SSDs will be much more economical in a year or so. However the demand for flash memory for SSDs might drive prices up again once it catches on...

Price trend is that it'll drop by 50% by mid 2008

Anyway...I'll go with Hybrids.

best of both worlds. flash + platter = better price ratio

too bad hybrid hdd still unavailable, just like SSD
