rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif A slip-up on Apple's UK online store has revealed that a Mac Pro workstation with 8 cores of processing power is inching closer to a release.
"Now quad-core or 8-core processing power," read a caption next to the company's existing Mac Pro offering. "Configure yours today."

The blooper corroborates an exclusive AppleInsider report from last October which first laid out the Mac maker's plans for an 8-core Mac Pro.

Although development of the system was reported to have wrapped up some time ago, Apple has thus far decided to defer the release until closer to the launch of Adobe's Creative Suite 3.0 (CS3) software bundle.

Sales of the current Mac Pro have been slow from the get-go, as Apple's creative professional user base has largely deferred purchasing the new Intel systems while they await native software support in CS3.

The new Mac Pro, people familiar with the systems have said, will achieve 8-core status through the adoption of two Intel quad-core Xeon 5300 series "Clovertown" chips. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif Attached Image

It's common courtesy to link back to the original article.

Should be interesting to see. I'm more eager to hear news about the MacBook and MacBook Pro, though.

The source is from insanelymac.com

that is just some leaked or maybe wrong info from apple.co.uk and is corrected few minutes after the discovery.

Probably not. Apple is known for being tight-lipped. You would expect them to respond quickly to any slip-ups, and an 8-core MacPro has been rumored to be in the works for a while now. Expect an official announcement soon.

current quad-core mac pro already at £1699 and expect 8-core at the same price £1699? no way! a direct conversion from £ to RM wont do the calculation.

Pricing would be identical as Intel has already announced that the Quad-core Clovertown processors will cost THE SAME as the current Woodcrest Dual-core processor in the MacPro.

Things are looking real good in the Mac world right now.

All you need is cash....

As expected, the 8-core Macpro is now in Apple Store. Also as expected by me, it's available in customise option, not complete replacement over quad-cores.

I thought you are eager to the 8-cores? It's out now and you say it's expensive pula.
You should have know it wont be "cheap". doh.gif

I don't think they will "keep stock" in KL. Just make your deposit/order and wait for it to arrive. That's how you get ur customised MacPro in Malaysia.

I suggest you do some research.
nVidia 7300GT is the standard GPU that ship with MacPro unless you pay extra to upgrade to X1900XT.

gosh, did you know the meaning of "refurbished"....?

having an X1900XT on a refurbed unit doesn't mean that has to be an equally standard-configured graphics on a brand new Quad 3.0GHz... do some research, wil'ye...? doh.gif doh.gif

seriously, with that level of understanding of yours, I'm not sure if you deserve such a powerful machine...

perhaps you can enlightened us on what you're gonna utilise on that machine...

gaming only...? laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

or porn....? whistling.gif

well the 8-core chips it's using is not even in the market yet.
taking the price of dual core 3.0Ghz Xeon 5160 is already RM3800 (check c-zone pricelist). Two of them already RM7k+ for the proc alone. Go figure how much value does Macpro actually worth before you compliant its expensive.

neither im filty rich. but i work hard so i earned it back in time.
