hey guys,

i need help.
I been offered the upgrade by Unifi to 100mbps . After their tech came to change my asus router to tplink router, i noticed my streaming movies buffer for a long time and since i don't have problem loading any of the movie catalogue in a swift before, now it takes ages to download the list.

I wrote to them and their feedback was, i will be billed RM 50 for the servicing. I found this ridiculous. I expect they knew the problem about this model Aicher 1200 which were known to have issue with cpu as claimed in this network topic. Why are they still giving out something that caused more problem than my old package.

And since my contract is over, they said if i request for a new replacement, i have to sign a new contract again. I wonder if this is consider blackmailing me to sign up new contract. Don't you think im suppose to get new router instead without me getting into more contract signing?

What should i do from here, guys. im kinda pissed off with them because it is taking ages for them to make decision.
In my earlier conversation with their customer service, they said that the latest upgrade firmware may not be compatible or may have issues. how true is this? I thought TPlink co should have known or work with TM . if it's problem, than shouldn't they fix the bug and give a more latest upgrade.

I just want to know , how many of you have gone through this and pursue the matter with them? Do they replace a different router model to you after complaining without having to sign a fresh contract ?
thanks.

Why do they even need to change the Asus router? Your Asus router will be more than better than the Archer C1200. No point getting pissed off with them. Just buy your own router and forget about asking them to change it for you. You will either get another Archer C1200, or the D Link DIR-850L, which is worse. They won’t replace the new router for you, without some form of payment unless you re sign contract with them so don’t bother.

You can either use back your old router or get another Asus router, which is the Asus RT-AC1300UHP.

actually when they visited me , their technician also claimed that my asus 56 nu is faster than the tplink.
at first, i told them i will listen to their suggestion to use back my asus. then for about half an hour , they couldn't connect the right speed on my asus router to get the 100mbps. they finally gave up and try using tplink, it works and achieved the desired data plan. so im satisfied and signed them off.

The problem only began after few days when i started to maximize the usage by watching movies. now i regretted to let them off like that not knowing that the router is crappy.

i still think it's their fault not able to fulfill their services precisely. i will try to talk to them again and rectify this problem. Otherwise, i don't see much different in the speed from 50 to 100 right?

Not much difference, and reaching 100Mbps is usually only achievable if you are on 5GHz, AC. So, if you are on 2.4GHz, i5 will be hard to reach the full 100Mbps. Up to you. If I were you, I would get the Asus RT-AC1300UHP, but it’s your choice. Good luck.

Thanks. At least now i knew which decision angle im at right now. I will upgrade my router instead. Asus will be my best bet for now. Tq
