QUOTE(missysleepy @ Jun 11 2018, 10:32 PM)
actually when they visited me , their technician also claimed that my asus 56 nu is faster than the tplink.
at first, i told them i will listen to their suggestion to use back my asus. then for about half an hour , they couldn't connect the right speed on my asus router to get the 100mbps. they finally gave up and try using tplink, it works and achieved the desired data plan. so im satisfied and signed them off.

The problem only began after few days when i started to maximize the usage by watching movies. now i regretted to let them off like that not knowing that the router is crappy.

i still think it's their fault not able to fulfill their services precisely. i will try to talk to them again and rectify this problem. Otherwise, i don't see much different in the speed from 50 to 100 right?
*
Not much difference, and reaching 100Mbps is usually only achievable if you are on 5GHz, AC. So, if you are on 2.4GHz, i5 will be hard to reach the full 100Mbps. Up to you. If I were you, I would get the Asus RT-AC1300UHP, but it’s your choice. Good luck.

Given a choice of Tp link ac1300/c7 and Asus rt ac58u (ookas selling for rm350 and rm399 respectively, which one will you guys choose?
I’m basically know nuts about router and my rt n16u falling sick recently. Thought of TP link ac1200 for rm160, not sure if it’s what you all refer as c1200? Browsing at ookas store and found that 2 I mentioned earlier, and I don’t mind forking out a little more if they can last me for 2-3 years.

Any suggestion for noobs like me?
*
I would recommend the TP Link c7 v4, and it is not AC1300, it is AC1750 for the C7 v4. I would actually recommend the Asus RT-AC1300UHP, but the price has went up. So, I would highly recommend the TP Link C7 v4 from Ookaa. They will send you the V4, although it is V2.

Currently on Archer C25 AC900, doing pretty good on 50mbps, no downtimes whatsoever. I wonder how will it copes when unifi upgrade to 500mbps
*
Time to upgrade your router. The C25 can’t and won’t be able to support 500Mbps. See above for my recommendation.

So.... It's actually V2 or V4?

They will send the V4 to you, although they mentioned that it is V2.

my C1200 used this FW.. any good FW that can recommend?

it's stock FW from agent i think

Look here: https://www.tp-link.com/my/download/Archer-...1.html#Firmware for the latest firmware, TIME or TM.

Just bought my C1200 but I'm not satisfied as the connection to the internet always drop. But my firmware is US and upgraded to the latest version (3.0.4) but the problem persists. Is it because of the firmware/region itself?  confused.gif  confused.gif

I did emailed tp-link regarding this 5 days ago but sadly I received nothing from them. I also scrolled and read this thread but couldn't understand much about router configuration.

Basically I just followed the setup instruction and able to get connected to the internet + IPTV.

I hope someone in here have experience with this and can guide me to resolve this issue.  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif

Nothing to do with US firmware. What version of the router is yours? What do you mean by drop? Other devices ok? Wireless or wired? If wireless, try 5GHz.

Just get your PPPoE username and password just in case, but configuration will still be there usually.

Hardware version is V3. Connected to wifi but frequently lost connection to the internet. Ping also always time out/unreachable
Other devices also facing the same problem. Wired seems more stable but the intermittent is more obvious when connected to either 2.4Ghz / 5Ghz wireless.
*
Did you try to analyze the wireless signals in your area? Could be very congested. Try to download the WiFi analyzer on your phone or computer, and change the wireless channel on your device.

The channel seems ok. Got another 1 wifi sharing the same channel with my 2.4Ghz.
No overlapping channel with my 5Ghz but the connection still intermittent.  sad.gif  cry.gif

Hmmm. Any other recommendation? Or should I request for replacement unit?
If so, do I need to go to the service center @ Low Yat?
*
Try changing cables from the BTU to the router. If problem still persists, it could be a problem with the new router. Are you on the latest firmware? See here: https://www.tp-link.com/my/download/Archer-...0.html#Firmware

Hi all,

my AC1200 router on unifi 50mbps..

sometime when i left my router overnight and tomorrow morning. my internet will down

i need reboot everything 1 to 2 times in order to get working

what is the potential issue? is there any misconfiguration?
*
Nope. It is a well-known problem with the C1200. I would recommend switching router. Get the TP Link c7 v4, and the problem will disappear.

RT-AC1300UHP what is the previous price before hike?
*
It has been RM569 on Lazada for some quite some time. It only goes down in price, when there is a sale.

Hi, my router is AC1200 V1 from TM. Can we upgrade the firmware using TP-link malaysia website or DD-WRT/OpenWRT firmware. TQ
*
Yes, use TP-Link Malaysia website. You can use DD-WRT or OpenWRT, but both don't support VLAN, which you need for Unifi, so be aware of that.

TP-Link Malaysia website for C1200 v1 firmware: https://www.tp-link.com/my/download/Archer-...1.html#Firmware

Can we also upgrade from v1 to v2 or v3 from malaysia website.
*
You need to buy the corresponding router that has the hardware versions. Yours is v1, so stick with v1 firmware.

If you want to buy your own router, I would suggest the TP Link Archer C7 v4.

Installing unifi probabbly end of this month. Its new to my area and I'm among the first to install it. Any router from TM to recommend because I might request to change to TM when installing.
1st page saying C1200 hang during torrents so I will avoid that.
*
Just avoid the TP-Link C1200. Anything else from them is okay. However, if you want something good and have a bigger house, you have to get your own router.

I'm using C1200. Wifi can reach 200mbps, very stable. I don't torrent. Coverage upstairs not so good as most other AC1200 routers, so I have another AP upstairs.
*
V1? Yours should be the exception then. Lots of people having stability issues with C1200. My in laws has that router and I switch their router to C3150 v2.

Not too sure about that too, sorry. I don’t use both firmware so wouldn’t know where to look at the first place.

Both OpenWRT and DDWRT don't have support for the AC1200, I run LEDE/OpenWRT on my Archer C7 flawlessly and both have VLAN support, that is pretty basic functionality part of any decent firmware, you just need to know how to configure it

Tagging bro chuahcs79 for his info.

How does having custom firmware improve the Archer c7? I bought one for my 500mb and quite disappointed with the range. Does custom firmware have any options to boost the signal? I understand 5g is naturally not good in range, but even the 2.4g is worse than my old asus rt-n12.
*
It won’t boost the signal if you change the firmware. If you want good signal, you need to buy the C2300 at minimum. 2.4GHz is worse as your old Asus has better antenna and a built in signal amplifier.

So buying a new router should be the solution right ?

Any suggestions as to which model that I should look into?

Thanks in advance
*
Yes. Get the Asus RT-AC86U if possible. That's the best one out there if you don't include the AX routers which are quite pricey.
