here you go.

Archer C1200 Firmware

then choose this version: Archer C1200(EU)_V1_170616

Flash like normal way we do when flashing the firmware.

It will take time around 5 to 10 min for the flashing process

Then you are done. DO the setup process normally.
Do makesure before you flashing the firmware, connect your ethernet cable to LAN 2 port behind your router. Because flashing the firmware will make LAN 1 as an iptv port.
*
how to do the set-up process normally? Need to put in all the password?

I just installed the 30Mbps, and oh yeah, the CS1200 really a piece of crap.

Double story, and the signal can't reach downstairs middle of the house, i wonder what are the 3 antennas for? to hang tissue maybe?

Rollback to my existing Asus RT router, and work like a charm.

Maybe I should try out the EU firmware.

guys i just upgraded from 50 to 100mbps. the gave me the ac1200. but on wifi I'm getting shitty speeds downstairs. really shitty.macbook i get good speeds. but ip7 is like2-30mbps. not stable. router is upstairs. hows the wifi coverage for anyone who is using c1200 for a double storey house?

my last router was asus nt12hp. it was awesome.i tried using that again but for some reason I'm getting slightly lower speeds. not sure if its the router or just the connection in general.

Did you try using the 5GHz band? Don't bother using the Asus N12HP, as it does not support AC, and therefore could give you lower speeds. If you are using the 2.4GHz band, that could be the problem as 2.4GHz is very congested nowadays.

Thanks for the reply. I’m not sure I’m using 2.4 or 5. Chose the same names. But it should auto connect which ever is better right? Or should I off 2.4? But if I’m not mistaken 2.4 is range right? Coz I think I need it as router is on top floor at the back. And tv/Ps4 is downstairs at the front. I was using 2.4 on the Asus. Slight drop on speeds. When I was on 50mbps.

Sorry but what’s AC? Guess router that I bought is redundant now. 😭 maybe can use as repeater. Hmmm.

5GHz band has better speed and less frequency interference but drawback is shorter range and bad wall penetration.
2.4GHz band has longer range and better wall penetration but drawback is slower speed and greater frequency interference.

It's good that you put different SSID name e.g. myWifi2G & myWifi5G so you could connect to 2.4 for devices far away from router.

See bro warrior reply above. It is the same thing as what I would say to you. See here for further explanation on AC and other various wireless basics:

True. With the FCC lockdown, you will not see the TP-Link's new model Archer C1200 running DD-WRT.

Here is an extract of the news....

"Last month, Libre Planet—a free software community—raised the alarm that TP-Link, one of the largest router manufacturers, had begun locking down firmware in newly released routers.
As proof, Libre Planet pointed to a transcript of a support conversation.

In the chat, a TP-Link rep says that the lockdown—which blocks the installation of open source firmware—was a reaction to new FCC requirements.

That’s a problem, because alternative router software packages like DD-WRT are hugely popular. These tools provide more sophisticated features and faster security patches than manufacturers offer.

I contacted TP-Link and asked them to confirm whether their support chat rep was correct. The company directed us to a new FAQ page confirming the lockdown. The FAQ reads,

Why is TP-LINK limiting the functionality of its routers?

TP-LINK is complying with new FCC regulations that require manufacturers to prevent certain firmware customizations on wireless routers.”

May i ask for suggestion staying at a 5000 sq feet place… currently using TPLINK AC1750… half of the place couldnt get any wifi.

Would like to ask does wifi extender affect the speed? Would prefer to have full speed as i would like to stream HD videos. Thank you. Also there will be at least 8 users as well.

or should just get a power router. Btw, each room upstairs got ethernet port as well.

Need suggestion for it. Usually just use wifi and now need to google all this as just shifted place.

Since you already have ethernet ports and if you have 2 routers then 90% of your problem is fixed, just youtube on how to configure your router as AP.
Wifi bridge or wifi repeater setup will lose half of bandwidth.

Building with rebar often causes wifi signal drop. It acts as a Faraday cage

I prefer those old building with brick and cement.

Conclusion, use LAN cable or Homeplug. Don't bother with WIFI if your building is constructed using rebar. laugh.gif

For me, I am getting 91Mbps on the Archer C1200 with 5Ghz WiFi.
I think must be some settings on your router.

My finding after using Tp link ac1750, overall signal is weaker (as compared with my old Asus N router), i'm going to buy homeplug in order to solve my bedroom coverage issue.

I am an ex user of archer c7v2 (sold it already due to weak wireless signal for both bands) and c1200 (ditched it because whenever I download using idm, it delays 1 minute before download any files including images) and replaced with second hand asus rt-n56u router. That solves the problem. No need to wait for a minute to download. Even aus firmware cannot save c1200.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pros of C7

- no reboot issues
- not getting too hot
- able to handle 20 devices at a time

Cons of C7
- lame ui
- weak wireless signal especially 5ghz band
- buggy firmware

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pros of C1200
- good wireless signal (even better than c7 to be precise)

Cons of C1200- firmware issues (too many bugs)
- random reboot (although aus firmware does improve the boot up time)
- overheat issue

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But, in future, I might avoid lower end tplink models.

Now i am a happy user of asus n56u. biggrin.gif

The best part is, asus n56u still receives firmware upgrade although it has been 6 years the router was launched into the market.
