SO.
I just bought my LP copy. was playing on it all night long. but when i laid my baby down on her sexy new stand, i noticed something really horrifying.
FINGERPRINTS! ARRGH!
okay so maybe i'm over-reacting, but gimme a break it's almost three and i'm dead tired.
Tips on cleaning your guitars anyone? from caring for your strings to polishing the body, anything is welcomed.

My gigging acoustic lies broken in the trunk of my car. heh i think imma take good care of my guitar for once it just looks so sexy when its nice, shiny and fingerprint free. btw how do you guys polish your guitar? i can't seem to get it to shine, it just leaves like...oil marks....something like polish stains?

for strings and fingerboard, i use "fast fret" applicator. nice and no mess. for body, JD no 65 formula. keeps the body shinning like new.
my 2cents.

Two is One and One is None.

i dont bother polishing my guitars.
the only thing i do, which is once every 2-3 months, is to use fretboard conditioner on them.
about fast fret, mine has only been used a few times, i havent bothered with it for the last 3-4 yrs. take note that fast fret doesnt really prevent your strings from rusting, just makes it smoother to play, tho i think it makes the strings feels like crap. also the bottom of the strings, where obviously you cant put fast fret on properly, may already be rusted even tho it feels smooth on top. so basically the longer you keep using it, the faster the rusted string eats into your frets.
hence the name 'fast fret' eating machine...

i use fast fret, but i slide a cloth under the strings to wipe the underside too. But maybe bass strings are just thicker and don't rust as bad as guitar strings. But my electric strings haven't rusted for about half a year. And i can't wait for my guitar to be battered up and scratched . Wouldn't polish it if you paid me to do it EDIT: But i have to agree to the strings feeling like crap part. Without a doubt. This post has been edited by Bassix: Mar 16 2007, 06:02 AM

ermm.. as for string care , i think its better to change new strings instead of polish etc.. new strings is how much only , cut one night of clubbing enough to buy whole year supply already . Anyone agree?
Fretboard yeaa, that need to take care , specially classical / acoustic guitar. ebony needs some care.
