Just got 8600GTS for my brother's new C2D PC. As usual test drive the card first. On current games not that great. Just OK for me. It's good on Oblivion though. Still miles away in terms of performance compared to my 8800GTS. I think there will be another card between 8800GTS and 8600GTS. I think Nvidia is just milking the market as they are the only DX10 card makers currently. They are holding some cards until AMD make their move.

My opinion, if you have the previous generation cards, stick to them. Upgrade only to the 8800. The 8600 is not really a bad card. It is just a bit of a letdown since the 8800 are monsters.
