this really pop up in my mind too~~~
since myself also using single core athlon64... would it be drag down the performance of 8600gts...?
*
if choosing 8600GTS, might as well top up abit to get a 8800GTS 320MB RAM.. muh more worth the bucks...

Anybody has comparison for 8600GT vs 6800GS ar? Thinking thinking already.... hmm.gif

no point getting 8800gts 320mb lah... pls take note i'm using single core oni... performance add into my system will be wasted...

for new core2 or am2 x2 oni will look right with 8800gts...
*
hmmm kinda true also...
the price between 8600GT and GTS is about RM300... do you think it is worth the performance....

I am confused also... rclxub.gif
I am using a X24600 with 6800GS... i am thinking of 8600GT only...

inDX9 game, 8600GT is comparable to 7600GT or 7900GS?

8600GT can be compare to 7900GS @ 7900GT... 8600GT isok for budget one, but if u planning for 8600GTS beter u directly co for 8800GTS 320MB since the price not much diff and it perform much2 better then 8600GTS

I agree with you..
The performance gap for 8600GT and GTS are not much but the price differ about RM300..

as for the 8600GTS and 8800GTS. price differ about RM300 also but performance almost double.....

serious ar? the 8600GT can performe as good as 7900GS? What i look upon the 8Xseries is on the DX10 advantage and with 128-Bit Mem can run as fast as the 7900GS with 256-Bit... impressive...

geez... really gives me a lot of headache...

@jeromeccm

Seems like we have the same issue in our head right now... I'm also a user of AMD Athlon 64 3000+ and a 6800GS.
At first I am thinking of upgrading to 8600GTS because changing to Dual-Core will cost much more money... need a new mobo too.. and ofcourse... I need to change my RAM to DDR2 as well... that is really costly... but then seeing how the price between 8600GTS and 8800GTS doesn't differ that much (if taking into considertion the performance upgrade)... I'm already very reluctant to take 8600GTS. 8600GT.. I think is too low lar... sweat.gif

Need to think carefully on this...

I tink wait la... becuase the 8600GTS is just too expensive to take with respet to its performance.. Hopefully when ATI is out, the price will be more competition then they might start the price war. So by then 8600 ultra will be out... Kinda interested. I dont like the 8800GTS 320 becuase of the power hunger.

Really looking forward for the 8600Ultra.. might ask my frien to buy the xfx for me in US. will see how.....

heard that 8600gts with 256 bit will be out someday, its better to wait for this rather than to get 8600gts with 128 bit.

the 86GT is consier nice performer considerig at 128Bit...
8600Ultra will i think is 256Bit... got to see the benchies first then decide between ultra or 8800GTS320.
