Details GeForce 8600 series surfacedThe specifications on the GeForce 8600GT and GeForce 8600 Ultra have been revealed with respective price points at an great $150 and $180 USD. When launched these will be the cheapest DirectX 10 compliant cards on the market. The prices are really competitive and will most likely drive the price of DX9 cards way down significantly. The launch date for these cards is about the same as for when ATI will launch R600, that is, around CeBIT at the second week of March. I do have some doubts about the validity of these specs as there is no valid source .. but if it's true (and granted it looks like it), including that photo of the XFX card .. that 8600 Ultra looks really nice. And that GT ... that looks like the sweet spot for a nice overclocking card for sure. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « http://www.guru3d.com/admin/imageview.php?image=9411 More info : http://www.guru3d.com/newsitem.php?id=4834

, it's brought up la dude... anyway... 8600 Ultra seems to be a good competitor to 7900GT/GTX? or even 7950GT/GX2? This post has been edited by sniper69: Mar 15 2007, 12:07 AM

I have better news for you http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4775Looks Plain On The Outside But Lethal Inside NVIDIA DX10 offerings for the mainstream market are definitely not to be missed and we will be seeing them on display over at the CeBIT in 2 days time. NVIDIA is still right on schedule for G84 launch on April 17th thus beat ATi to deliver DX10 mainstream products. We took an early look on G84 in Feb and we saw some changes on the core clock when we revealed the specs earlier. Now, the final core clock of 8600 GTS is at 675MHz while 8600 GT is at 540MHz, both lowered from the earlier specs we have seen. The memory clock for 8600 GTS stood at 1GHz using 1ns 256MB GDDR3 memories while memory clock for 8600 GT stood at 700MHz using 1.4ns GDDR3 memories. GeForce 8600 GTS has 8 layers PCB based on P401 design kit while 8600 GT has 6 layers PCB based on P402 design kit. 8600 GTS requires an additional power with the TDP at ~71W while 8600 GT which doesn't requires external power is rated at ~43W TDP. As promised, we will provide you some glimpse on the performance of the upcoming GeForce 8600 GTS and 8600 GT graphics cards. On a Core 2 Extreme X6800 processor, GeForce 8600 GTS scored a pretty impressive 5,7xx pts in 3DMark06 which is slightly faster than the 7950GT while 8600 GT churned out 4,7xx pts in 3DMark06 overshadowing a 7900GS. It seems that a 128-bit memory interface is not stopping 8600 series from churning out some nice performance.

I just hope that a normal 8600GT can be bought at around RM650 within 3 months, then I will be able to build my new rig with it, together with the reduced price E4300 Core2Duo

Regardless on what their spec is. I will be going ATi/AMD for my next GPU. I have been sticking with nvidia for quite sometime. I wanted to try ATi/AMD cards.

QUOTE(jcliew @ Mar 15 2007, 11:08 AM) Maybe is AMD/ATI tactic to wait opponent cum out 1st then counter them back No thats not it, name one game that REALLY require DX10 right now or name a game that needs more graphical power that no current card can handle About the 8600GTS, its looks like a good midrange cards. I will buy it when it comes out
